Meghan and Nick met in the fall of 2018 when Nick escorted Meghan to the Bells of the American Royal Ball. The pair immediately bonded over their love of Harry Potter, golf, hiking in the mountains, and dogs. Since then, Meghan and Nick survived the COVID lockdown, welcomed a puppy (Miss Kio) into their lives, and cheered the Chiefs through three Super Bowls .

As Christmas has always been a special time for Meghan, in 2022, Nick chose Christmas Eve to propose. In true Harry Potter fashion, he designed a "Golden Snitch" for the ring box and placed it in her stocking. Between lots of tears, she immediately said "YES."
