The universe wanted Garrett & Meghan to meet so badly, it put them in each other’s paths not once, not twice, but three separate times.
Their first meeting was in June 2007. Meghan had walked all the way to the Milton Dairy Queen in the sweltering early summer heat to meet her friend Jake for ice cream. After they had both finished their cones, Jake mentioned his friend was on his way to pick him up to hang out. Facing the possibility of walking back home and sweating even more, Meghan asked if Jake thought his friend might give her a ride home. “Oh I’m sure he would,” Jake said. “Garrett’s a good guy.”
Fast forward two months to Meghan’s 19th Birthday party at The Dickens when once again, Garrett gave Jake a ride after they'd been hanging out earlier that day. And although Jake encouraged Garrett to join the party upstairs because “Meghan wouldn’t care, she’s really cool”, Garrett decided to grab a beer at the bar downstairs and inquire about a job. As it happens, they had an opening, as Meghan, who had been working there that summer, was heading back to school in the fall.
In October 2007, after 2 months at University and 2 months of living off of ramen and cheap beer with her friends, Meghan ran out of money. She decided to head back to her summer job to pick up shifts on the weekend. Turns out, they were in need of someone to work with their newest server Garrett on Saturday nights and Sundays.
After months of long looks, awkward chit chat, and the relentless pestering of their co-workers, Meghan got up the courage to buy Garrett a drink. Then, Garrett got up the courage to send Meghan an e-valentine’s card. Then, after a few jello shots at a party, they both got up the courage to share their first kiss.
That was 16 years ago. Since then, they have worked hard to build their lives together. They’ve both gone back to school, started careers, bought a house, welcomed their dog Linda to the family, and shared countless laughs. They’ve been joyfully living their happily-ever-after and are so excited to celebrate the partnership they’ve built. They cannot wait to welcome their loved ones to St. Jacob’s to witness them finally, finally tie the knot!
