It all started with just a little note.

Meghann and Mike first met while she was working at 54th Street, and some friendly intervention got our story going. He was oblivious to some fairly obvious interest, and so Meghann’s friends delivered a middle-school style note, much to her embarrassment, to get things started. Our first date ended in very Texan fashion looking at the stars on a country back road.

Since that night we have shared many adventures and new experiences. We got “stranded” a day in Hawaii and took things international in Mexico to Chichen Itza. Along the way Mike learned that getting 100 pounds of anaesthetized dog into a truck is not easy, and Meghann has reluctantly heard far too much about Texas Aggie athletics.

Mike asked Meghann to marry him on that same back road as their first date. By asking on Thanksgiving he also (unknowingly) continued a tradition of engagements on the same holiday as Meghann’s sisters.

Our future together begins with a voyage to Italy and Greece on our honeymoon. From there we know that whatever the future brings, we will be there together. But hopefully wherever we are, it is warm for Meghann’s sake.

So, on our wedding night when you hear the song Check Yes or No by George Strait, know that it’s a testament to how our story started, that Mike can’t take a hint, and that a little note is sometimes all it takes to change your life. Our little note thankfully led us to our forever.
