Mekayla and Davontae meet in 2011 at Pleasant Grove Baptist church, on a Saturday morning at her choir practice. He was visiting his aunt who was the youth choir director at the time. They dated while she was going through a Debutant program where they were learning new things together such as the Waltz. After she graduated high school they parted ways as they started their young adult journeys. They talked to each other every now and then but had different life journeys. Davontae reached out to Mekayla via instagram dm for lunch but she denied the lunch offer, as she wasn’t sure yet after visiting her church. Mekayla and Davontae had a long conversation at the church, after his uncle’s funeral service. Mekayla and Davontae exchanged business cards afterwards and from that point on they have been inseparable since. He has helped Mekayla during her low moments after her surgery he turned into her personal chauffeur and helped her with her transitions. Davontae is no stranger to Mekayla’s family. Davontae had mentioned he had lost Mekayla one time and does not want to loose her again. November 16th Davontae asked her for her hand in marriage at a surprise engagement dinner that he set up for her. They are excited about this new journey in their lives and can’t wait to celebrate with their close friends and families October 4, 2025.
