Josh and I met at Parkway Christian School in 10th grade. We talked for the very first time on the first day of school in Spanish class. From there, we were friends all throughout our Sophomore and Junior years. At the start of our Senior year, we were voted onto Homecoming Court together and grew deeper in friendship than ever before. By February of that year we were BEST friends and Josh planned out the perfect "girlfriend proposal" with candles, sparklers, and more!

On Sunday, March 6, 2016 Josh and I took a trip to one of our favorite date spots, Dodge Park. After walking around a bit and feeding bread to the ducks, Josh walked me to the center of the bridge, got down on one knee, and said, "Melaina Rose Catherine Saunders, you're the love of my life and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" I was beyond surprised! After a few minutes of "Are you serious?" "Is this real?" and the like, he repeated, "So wait, is this a yes?" To which I finally replied, "YES!"
