On December 3rd, 2021 Tom and Melanie met for the first time at the Medusa Brewing Company in Hudson, the perfect midpoint for the pair as Mel was living in Maynard and Tom in Worcester at the time. We had been put in contact with one another by mutual friends and despite Melanie ignoring Tom for nearly a week, we finally made plans. Seemingly nervous we began with the typical ice breaker conversation and shortly thereafter it was revealed Melanie grew up in North Conway, New Hampshire. Oddly enough Tom spent a significant amount of time in North Conway growing up as family lived in Bartlett. We were both able to reminisce of notable attractions and places in the area as the conversation continued to evolve. When the night was over it was obvious we would see each other again in the near future, in fact we saw each other again the following night after Mel went to a Bruin’s game with friends and Tom had his work Christmas party in the Seaport leading both of us to a small pub in Somerville. Each week brought another date and eventually lead Melanie to move into Tom’s apartment only a few short months later which was initially meant to be temporary until she found an apartment of her own, which obviously never happened. Since then we’ve traveled to many destinations such as Charleston, SC, Spain, Toronto, Savanah, GA, Ireland, and most recently Vale, Colorado from where we returned home engaged. Together we have raised our Malinois named Kona and trained her to be a functioning member of society. We’ve built memories we both never imagined and plan to continue this trend in the years to come.
