1. Z Tejas - Alex's favorite restaurant in Austin, right on 6th Street, and perfect for some Tex-Mex and margaritas.

2. Moonshine - An Austin favorite! Simply delicious and the perfect place for a nice southern style dinner or brunch.

3. Walton's - Melanie and her mom love this quaint restaurant, perfect for breakfast or lunch! It is more casual and owned by Sandra Bullock!

4. Chuy's - A true Austin Original for Tex-Mex! Make sure to order the creamy jalapeno sauce. The New Mexican Martini is also DELICIOUS!

5. Eureka - Located right on 6th Street near the hotel, this restaurant has delicious burgers and American cuisine.

6. Annie's Café - Right around the corner from the hotels is this tasty breakfast spot. Perfect if you are looking for a sit-down style restaurant.

7. Torchy's Tacos - YOU HAVE TO TRY IT! Nothing beats Torchy's! Their queso is also amazing.

8. Iron Cactus - A great spot to sit outside and enjoy a margarita and 6th Street night life.

9. Summer Moon - If you want a coffee treat unlike any other, head to Summer Moon. This is one of Alex and Melanie's favorite spots to visit in Austin!

10. The Grove - Pizza and salads with a great wine selection. Also a Melanie and Alex favorite!

11. The Salt Lick - The Original Salt Lick is in Driftwood, Texas and is cash only and BYOB, this is a great spot if you are looking for a fun, authentic barbecue restaurant! Also great barbecue restaurants are Lambert's and the County Line.

11. Trudy's - Try the fried stuffed avocado or a Mexican Martini! This is an Austin favorite for any Longhorn.

12. Chilantro - This fusion food-truck-turned-restaurant has amazing food and is an Austin Original!

13. Abel's on the Lake - If you are looking to sit on the water and enjoy some traditional American fare, this is a great place to stop in!

14. Olive and June - an upscale Italian restaurant where Alex took Melanie to celebrate her 23rd birthday.

If you're looking for night life in Austin 3 places come to mind!

1. Dirty 6th, as we like to call it - This is the hopping spot, mostly for the college age crowd, or for those feeling particularly adventurous. It boasts several rooftop bars, and most importantly a Pete's Dueling Piano Bar, where you can sing your heart out!

2. West 6th Street - Just down the street is West 6th, the hangout for many young professionals and a slightly older crowd. Favorite spots here include Dogwood, Little Woodrow's, and the Rattle Inn.

3. Rainey Street - This is a MUST visit while you are in town! Rainey Street has a series of houses that have been converted into bars. Our personal favorite is Lucille's, with a fun outside patio and lively feel. Don't forget to check out the food trucks nearby!

And of course, live music. If you are hoping to see a show while in Austin, check out Stubbs, Emo's, ACL Live, or the Continental Club!

There are tons of things to do in Austin, but here are a few of our favorites:

1. Go walk the trail around Town Lake. The trail has beautiful scenery, makes a loop which is easy to follow, and is just a short walk from the hotel.

2. Esther's Follies - Come join the bride and groom and the comedy club on Thursday night!

3. Kayaking or Stand Up Paddle Boarding - Also on town lake! This is a super fun way to enjoy the outdoors and soak up some sun! This is the closest location to the hotel: http://www.texasrowingcenter.com/

4. Visit the Texas Capitol - Just up the street is the Texas Capitol, a fun place to visit and walk the grounds!

5. Museums - Austin has great museums including the Bob Bullock, Blanton Art Museum and the LBJ Presidential Library.

6. The University of Texas - Alex and Melanie are proud Longhorns and would love to share their campus with you!

7. South Congress - Home to many shops and fun restaurants, this is a popular place for locals and tourists. Don't forget to take a picture with the "I love you so much" mural! There are other fun murals to visit around Austin as well!
