I was minding my business at work when I first saw her. I thought she was the most beautiful woman I ever laid my eyes on. I couldn't find the courage to approach her at the moment, all I could do was just stare and hope she would notice me. Her cousin who was also my coworker at the time approached her and they had a quick and joyful conversation. Once she left I instantly asked her cousin who that fine girl was she was talking to. She told me that was her cousin "Melea" and that she was down here to celebrate her Graduation and that I should come to properly introduce myself. I declined because I didn't have my haircut and didn't want to come at her nappy headed. However, that didn't stop me from plotting. For the next 3 months I would bother her cousin every single day about Melea. I would ask how Melea was doing and I would tell her cousin "If I get her, I promise I would treat her right." After months of relaying my messages, Melea finally reached out to me on her Birthday and that's when the connection was made. I asked her on a date and she declined due to arrangements she already made. Weeks would go by and we would talk here and there. She wanted a brotha to chase her but I was too playa for all that. Ok maybe I did chase a little but after awhile I decided to fall back and charge it to the game. Days went by and I get a phone call from her and she asked me "Why aint you text me back?" We had a good conversation and she finally admitted she liked me too and that she wanted to pursue something serious with me. At this point that's when she started sweating me like crazy. We would talk everyday and all day. She became my best friend. We talked about going on our first date and so many other things that we wanted for our future. On April 6th, 2021 I decided to make it official and she became my official Girlfriend. We survived long distance for most of our relationship. Whether we were states apart or 3 hours apart, we grew closer despite the distance. After a year and a half we decided it was time to close the distance and make a life for ourselves together in San Antonio. Once I got to San Antonio, I decided it was time to make this woman my Wife. I plotted for months. When the time came I was so nervous. I couldn't eat or sleep for the entire week. When the time came on June 9th I was so excited, but yet so nervous because it reminded me of the first time I seen her 2 years prior. Her beauty stunned me once again and the butterflies were going crazy inside me. I asked her to be my wife and the rest is history. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Well, now that you've heard his version...here's mine, the truth. It all started in HEB self-checkout when I was purchasing guacamole for my surprise graduation party. Amber and I stopped to talk with Canitra and Jerry was standing a few feet away. You know when you can feel somebody staring at you? Yeah, he was staring. Anyways, later that evening at the party, Nitra was explaining how her coworker liked what he saw but was too scary to say something in person. This was all in November 2020. He sent several messages through Nitra to me, but never reached out. Finally, I took the high road on my birthday and DM'd him. We scheduled our first date that weekend, but I completely forgot that I had to attend a wedding...so, I cancelled. Time went on and things were pretty slow. Eventually things picked up after I lit a fire underneath him and we've been inseparable ever since. If you didn't know, Jerry is very thoughtful and super romantic when it comes to planning dates. He asked me to be his girlfriend on April 6, 2021 at Cheddars with cheesecake. A month later, I moved to North Carolina and he took his first flight to visit me. We survived long distance for over a year and in August 2022, we moved in together. Of course I was impatiently waiting on my ring, because I'm not shacking up for fun, lol. On June 9th, he proposed at the Pearl after planning with 2 of my girlfriends. I knew it was coming, but I was still shocked. I can't wait to marry my best friend.
