Our Wedding

It all began on a chilly night in Budapest at a house party organized by Danny. Among the guests was Melinda who had been invited by her best friend - Noémi, unaware that this evening would change everything. Danny noticed she was freezing and lent her his green hat to keep warm. When it was time for her to leave, she tried to return the hat, but Danny insisted she keep it. The next day, a message from Danny appeared on Melinda's phone. He had found her number through a mutual friend, marking the start of something that would grow over time. For about a year, they kept things light, sharing laughs and adventures with their mutual group of friends at university. They spent countless days making memories before eventually realizing they had something special. Their journey took them to the Bahamas, where they spent a couple of amazing months. There, Melinda got to know Danny’s roots—his family, friends, and the place that shaped him. From the islands to Canada, they decided to continue their adventure in Vancouver, building a life together. Now, after all these years, they’re preparing to write their next chapter—this time, as partners for life.

OUR STORY

Minden egy hideg éjszakán kezdődött Budapesten, egy házibulin, amit Danny szervezett. A vendégek között ott volt Melinda, akit a legjobb barátnője - Noémi, hívott meg – mit sem sejtve arról, hogy ez az este mindent megváltoztat. Az este folyamán Danny észrevette, hogy Melinda fázik, ezért kölcsönadta neki a zöld sapkáját, hogy melegen tartsa. Amikor eljött az idő, hogy hazamenjen, Melinda megpróbálta visszaadni a sapkát, de Danny ragaszkodott hozzá, hogy tartsa meg. Másnap egy üzenet érkezett Danny-től. Egy közös ismerősük segítségével szerezte meg Melinda számát, ezzel elindítva valamit, ami idővel különleges kapcsolattá vált. Ezt követően, körülbelül egy évig könnyedén vették a dolgokat. Sok nevetést és közös kalandot éltek át az egyetemi baráti társaságukkal. Számtalan közös napot töltöttek emlékeket gyűjtve, mielőtt rájöttek volna, hogy igazán különleges érzések kötik őket össze. Később útjuk a Bahamákra vezetett, ahol pár csodálatos hónapot töltöttek együtt. Ott, Melinda közelebbről megismerhette Danny gyökereit: a családját, barátait, és azt a helyet, ami őt formálta. A szigetekről végül a Nagy Fehér Északra, Kanadába költöztek, és úgy döntöttek, hogy ott folytatják a közös életüket. Most, ennyi év után, arra készülnek, hogy megírják következő közös fejezetüket – ezúttal életre szóló társként.

We know many of you are traveling from far and wide, and we really appreciate the effort you’re making to celebrate with us. Budapest walking tour

2 PM | MEETING SPOT | Copy into browser: https://maps.app.goo.gl/zm7sE2obYB2PitVT7?g_st=ipc Join us on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, for a guided (by us :D) walking tour through the heart of Budapest! We’ll meet at Jaszai Mari Ter in the small park next to the statue of Nagy Imre at 2:00 PM and set off to explore some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The walk will last around an hour and a half with a few stops along the way and end at one of Budapest’s most famous ruin bars.

4 PM | MEETING SPOT | Copy paste into browser: https://maps.app.goo.gl/9nVxq2o3ErUBwSfg8?g_st=ipc On Thursday, September 11, 2025, join us at 4:00 PM for an evening at the Budapest Wine Festival, held at the stunning Buda Castle. This annual event showcases the best wines from Hungary and beyond, paired with incredible views of the city. The easiest and least busy way to access the festival is from behind the castle in the [VIP😝] elevator. LOCATION PIN ABOVE! This is also accessible by public and a short walk but most conveniently by taxi (Bolt App). Meet us there and we’ll have your ticket ready! Wear shoes appropriate for cobble stone. To fully enjoy the festivities, we kindly ask all our guests to stay at the venue from Friday to Sunday. GETTING TO THE VENUE

A complimentary coach bus will leave Budapest city center on Friday afternoon and take guests to the venue in Bela, Slovakia. Please make sure to confirm your seat on the coach bus in your RSVP. We recommend all our guests fly into Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD), the main international airport in Budapest, Hungary. Budapest is not only a convenient gateway to our wedding venue at Château Béla, but we also have some exciting pre-wedding activities planned in Budapest that we'd love for you to join! From Budapest, we'll arrange transportation to Château Béla, ensuring a smooth journey to our wedding location.

Where to Stay?

We’ve put together a short list of hotels we recommend, but Airbnb is also a great and budget-friendly option for your stay. Budapest has something for everyone. Hotel options:- <a href="https://hotelrumbudapest.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Hotel Rum</a> - a boutique hotel located in the heart of the city. Super close to everything. A bonus: there is a great brunch spot on the top of the building - great food and better views.- <a href="https://roombach.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Roombach Hotel</a>: a more affordable option, also in the heart of the city. It's surrounded by cafes and bars.- <a href="https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/budwh-w-budapest/rooms/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">W Hotel</a>: this is a pricier option, a luxury hotel. Located across from the beautiful Opera house on the famous Andrassy Avenue. Alternative Stays:- Airbnb: Budapest has a wide range of Airbnb options, from modern apartments to historic homes.- Budget-Friendly Hostels: If you're looking for something more affordable, there are plenty of hostels in Budapest that offer clean and comfortable stays. We've marked the most ideal parts of the city to stay in RED. The marked BLUE area is nice and central but is known as the party district and can be noisy!

How to get around?

Budapest has a very well-connected transportation system, making it easy to explore. Here are the best options for getting around during your stay. You can buy single tickets/passes at metro stations, kiosks, or via mobile apps. Very easy. 1. Uber and other ride-sharing appsUber: download app if you don't have it yet.Bolt: Similar to Uber, Bolt is also an app-based service, download from your app store.Főtaxi: This is the official taxi service in Budapest, and you can book rides via their app or by phone. 2. Public Transportation:Budapest's public transportation system super good and covers the entire city.Metro: There are four lines (M1, M2, M3, and M4) [M1 being a UNESCO World Heritage Site]Trams: Trams 4 and 6 run 24/7. You can get to most places in the city with this tram. It's great!Buses: A wide network of buses complements the metro and trams.

What to do in town?

Gellért Hill – Hike up for beautiful city views and visit the impressive Liberty Statue. One of our favorite views of the city.Fovam Market Hall – A bustling market where you can find lots of local delicacies, souvenirs, and fresh produce.Váci Street – Shopping street lined with boutiques, cafes, and restaurants.Andrássy Avenue – The main boulevard, home to luxury shops and the State Opera House.Margaret Island – Our favorite park in Budapest, located in the middle of the Danube river. You can rent a bike, or visit the music fountain and gardens.Rudas Thermal Bath – A traditional Turkish bath with modern amenities and rooftop views.Gellért Spa – an Art Nouveau thermal bath. Really nice interior.Szimpla Kert – The original ruin bar, known for its eclectic decor. Must visit!Hungarian State Opera House – An architectural masterpiece. Worth to check out!Heroes' Square – One of Budapest's most iconic landmarks, filled with history.Galleries around Heroes' Square – Discover art at the Museum of Fine Arts and the Műcsarnok Kunsthalle.House of Music – Explore this unique museum dedicated to the history and culture of music. It's quite interactive and fun - we loved it!St. Stephen’s Basilica – Climb to the top for panoramic views and admire the beautiful interior. Hungary's legendary football player Puskas Ferenc rests in here too.Hungarian Parliament Building – Admire the stunning Neo-Gothic architecture of one of Budapest's most iconic landmarks. If you want, you can take a guided tour to explore from the inside.Dohány Street Synagogue – The largest synagogue in Europe, and second largest in the world. A stunning architectural gem.Shoes on the Danube Bank – Holocaust memorial along the river.Tram Ride Along the Danube – Hop on tram number 2 from Fővám tér to Jászai Mari tér for a scenic ride along the river, offering nice views of the city’s major landmarks, including the Parliament and Buda Castle.
