Our Wedding

James and Melissa met at work when James dilly dallied on his way to the break room and Melissa fought the urge to run him down with her cart because he was in her way. After the 5 minute meander down the hall way, James, feeling the daggers Melissa's eyes were shooting in the back of his head, turned around and commented "I feel like I'm being followed". Melissa, not missing a beat, replied "yea, you are. I'm hunting you". He laughed when he could have turned her in to HR and so began his slow addiction to coffee as he made multiple trips to the break room so he could "casually" bump into her every day. Eventually they started "having breakfast together" at her desk (because no love story is complete without strawberry pop-tarts and coffee) and chatting over instant messenger. It only took him a solid 3 months of daily flirting, a practice lunch, and a whole lot of coffee, but eventually James asked Melissa out and she said yes.

Travel Info

If you are flying in from out of town, San Diego International Airport is the closest airport to us. Some people may be able to find cheaper flights into LAX, which is about an hour and a half drive down.

Car Rentals

You do not need to rent a car if you would rather not, as Uber and Lyft are both widely used in San Diego. However, if you would like to rent a car, please know that our ceremony and reception are at the same venue and there is free parking. You may park overnight should you find you need to leave your car and hitch a ride back to your hotel.

Kid Policy

Children are welcome at our wedding, but please note that children under 3 will need to be on a parent's lap for dinner. If you are local, we ask that you please consider leaving little ones with family or a baby sitter for the evening. Regretfully, high chairs are not available. We would love to have all of the kiddos present, but unfortunately space is limited.

Dinner

Dinner will be buffet style with options of chicken breast picatta, herb crusted top sirloin roast, penne villa roma, wild rice medley, and bread and salad. Vegan options will be available. There will be a dessert bar as well as traditional wedding cake. If you have specific dietary restrictions, please let us know so we can work with our caterer to ensure there are options for you.

Alcohol

Our wedding will have an open bar for beer, wine and two specialty cocktails. There will also be water, juice and lemonade available. Please consume at your own risk - remember, there will be a photographer present for all shenanigans.

Attire

October in San Diego can be a bit temperamental. We often get very hot winds blowing in off the desert. The ceremony itself will be outside next to the bay, so it may be a bit cooler near the water. It can get breezy, so you may want to bring a light sweater. Don't forget your sunglasses. The reception will be indoors a few steps away from the ceremony. The building is air-conditioned. If it's hot out, we will be kept cool as long as the doors are closed. For those that fear matching the wedding party, please don't be concerned about it. Our wedding party will be dressed in burgundy and navy - we won't be mad if you match. We ask for cocktail attire, so no jeans or shorts. Khakis are okay. Melissa has dibs on white dresses.

Directions to our wedding

From Interstate 5: Take the Sea World Drive exit. From Sea World Drive, take West Mission Bay on your right. When you see a large green sign that reads Quivira Road, get in the farthest left of the two left turn lanes. Turn left, go one very short block and turn left again. Drive about 1/4 mile and Marina Village will be on your right.From Interstate 8: Take West Mission Bay Drive exit to the right. You will be on Ingraham for a short distance from which you will take the next exit marked West Mission Bay Drive. When you see a large green sign that reads Quivira Road, get in the farthest left of the two left turn lanes. Turn left, go one very short block and turn left again. Drive about 1/4 mile and Marina Village will be on your right. If you are walking from the Dana Inn: Cross West Mission Bay Drive at the light at the Quivira Access rd (please use the cross walks - Mission Bay Dr is a high speed road), and walk out to the sidewalk along the harbor. Turn left and walk about a half mile down the sidewalk, enjoy the views and we'll see you at the south lawn (you'll pass the reception location, the BayView Room before you get to the ceremony location). Ceremony Location: once you find the Marina Village Conferencing Center, please park toward the left side of the parking lot. The ceremony is on the South Lawn at the end of the buildings. Our reception will be in the Bayview Room (1933 Quivira Way - second building from the left along the shore).
