Our Story
Cam and Melissa met in August 2014 during cross-country preseason at Norwich University. Cam was a sophomore and Melissa was a freshman. Melissa quickly became friends with Danielle, another teammate (and bridesmaid!), who was friends with Cam. The three of them quickly became close, sharing lots of laughs on bus trips to cross-country meets and during study sessions in the U-Building. Melissa and Cam remained friends at the conclusion of the 2014 cross-country season and continued to run and study together during the off-season. They kept in touch over the summer while Cam was back in Pennsylvania working and Melissa remained in Vermont.

When Melissa and Cam returned for the 2015 cross-country, they fell right back into the routine of running, going to the dining hall, and studying together. With some encouragement from Danielle, Cam began asking Melissa on dates. At first, Melissa was stubborn and compromised with take-out Applebee's in her dorm room with Cam and Danielle. But with persistence, Cam finally convinced Melissa to go on an official date with him to Positive Pie in Montpelier and the rest was history. They officially began dating on September 22, 2015.

Cam and Melissa enjoyed running together for the remainder of their time in college. Cam graduated from Norwich University in 2017, and Melissa in 2018. Cam started his career at PC Construction, where he had spent a summer as an intern with Melissa's brother, Alex. He spent time in Vermont, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore before deciding to take on a new position with Clark Construction. Since then, he has lived in Northern Virginia and worked in various roles for Clark.
When Melissa graduated from Norwich in 2018, she attended a one-year Athletic Training Residency in Manchester, NH. After that, she moved to Chestertown, MD where she worked as an Athletic Trainer. She and Cam were able to see each other on most weekends, and on October 31, 2020, Cam proposed!! At that point in time, Melissa knew she was going to PA school so they decided to wait to get married until after she graduated.
In August 2021, Melissa came to Harrisonburg, VA for her Masters' in Physician Assistant Studies at James Madison University. She graduated in December 2023 and now works in Washington, DC at Medstar Washington Hospital as a Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Physician Assistant. As you can see, Melissa and Cam spent the vast majority of their relationship after college long-distance. They are very excited to finally be together and to see what the future holds. It's been a long time coming and they thank their family and friends for all of the support and encouragement along the way!
