On Melissa's birthday 2012, she walked up to Bryce at local establishment and said, "Hey, what's your name?" After initial greetings, Melissa disappeared to the "bathroom" only to leave Bryce behind with her roommate, Holly and Bryce's roommate, Adam. Thankfully, the roommates came to the rescue, and Bryce was able to pass his number on to Melissa.

A few nights later, Melissa and Bryce met for their first official date, and the rest is history.

Bryce surprised Melissa by proposing in Breckenridge, Colorado while they were snowboarding this past March. Bryce faked a mechanical issue with his snowboard after luring Melissa to a private run on Peak 6. Bryce called to Melissa, who was 15 feet down the mountain, "Hey babe, can you help me with my binding?" Melissa quickly responded, "You're fine, let's go." After further convincing, Melissa proclaimed, "This better be worth it!", and jumped up to Bryce, where he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. It turns out, that uphill, 15 foot hop was worth it!
