Melissa and Sebastian's story actually begins back around 2008. They met in 7th grade technology class, but both had zero interest in each other and only spoke on occasion.
In 2010, Melissa and Sebastian were in the same math class. However, minimal words were exchanged, up until Melissa had her braces removed and then began their high school romance!
They began dating 2011, unfortunately like most high school relationships, it was awkward, there was minimal communication and the relationship did not last.
To Melissa's surprise, on September 21st, 2012, Sebastian asked her out during the fireworks display at their high school home coming game. And the rest is history!
In 2014, Melissa and Sebastian went to prom, graduated high school and prepared to go off to college. They could not believe they would both be going to Oneonta together!
In the fall of 2014, Melissa and Sebastian began Freshman Year at SUNY Oneonta. They "passed through the pillars", which is an Oneonta tradition for all freshman.
Melissa and Sebastian had an amazing freshman year at Oneonta. They made amazing friends, who they still are close with today.
Unfortunately, Sebastian tore his ACL but he and Melissa still made the most of their summer!
Melissa and Sebastian finished their first semester of sophmore year.
It was another challenging year, but it did solidify that they both wanted to work in the health care field.
Sebastian and Melissa just could not get enough of their college friends! Sooo they went to Fire Fly Music Festival in Delaware. This was Sebastian and Melissa's first music festival. Sebastian prepared Melissa by making playlists of all the artists that would be there. Through this, they both realized they have very similar music tastes and could not wait to experience more concerts together!
Sebastian was determined to get Melissa to go out and travel more. So they took their first "big" trip to Montreal in Canada.
It was an amazing experience and showed Melissa how much traveling can offer!
During their Junior Year of Oneonta, Melissa and Sebastian were elected onto the Habitat for Humanity Board. They went on their first mission trip to Vero Beach, Florida, where they helped build houses for those in need. They continued to be part of Habitat for Humanity up until they graduated. Melissa as President and Sebastian as Vice President.
Sebastian would invite Melissa to go on her biggest trip yet, to visit his family in Chile. Melissa was greeted with so much love and acceptance. They traveled to Santiago, Atacama Desert
In the Spring of 2018, Melissa and Sebastian graduated Oneonta. They would continue their education in Physician Assistant Studies.
Melissa was accepted to Long Island University of Brooklyn and Sebastian was accepted to Hofstra.
By the fall of 2019, Melissa and Sebastian survived their first year of PA school!
They were now on their clinical rotations.
At the end of September, the Godinez family welcomed a new addition.... PISCO!!
In 2020, after many, many tears (Melissa's tears), minimal sleep, hard work, and dedication; Melissa and Sebastian became Physician Assistants!
By Summer of 2021, Melissa and Sebastian were a few months into their new jobs. They finally got back to traveling and spending more time with friends and family.
Their first big trip after school was to Oregon and Washington.
The next big moment in Melissa and Sebastian's adventure was them closing on their new home in Coram. They were so excited to have a place of their own where they could continue to create memories!
In 2023, Melissa did not suspect a thing. Behind the scenes Sebastian was setting up an elaborate engagement, which many had to keep secret for months!
What Melissa expected to be a reunion in Oneonta with her best friends from college, turned out to be one of the best days of her life.
She said YES!
Sebastian thought that the proposal would buy him some time before Melissa started nagging him again about getting a cat. Unfortunately for him the distraction of the proposal did not last long.
Despite his wishes Melissa came home with a new furry friend that she rescued.
Sebastian had no choice but to be a cat dad to his new son, Fletcher
Now that our little family is complete we can focus on the main reason you are even reading this story... OUR WEDDING!
We cannot express how grateful we are for all our family and friends for being there for us. We cannot wait to celebrate with you all!
