Our Wedding

Everyone believes their destination is at the end of the path they have already started. Often the paths we take twist and turn, and often in ways that we are completely unprepared for. Our journey started with someone changing paths and someone else just starting on theirs. &nbsp;Coffee may have made us meet but humor, Broadway, and sushi put us together. Josh hates coffee, everyone who has ever met him knows that, so the question of why he would choose to work at Starbucks will never make sense. Melissa loves coffee, maybe as far as saying she was addicted to it (5 venti vanilla lattes with 96 shots or something a day is a bit much). Melissa is a bubbly Disney nut, or Dis-idiot in their own admitted, common parlance. She loves cars (especially her Jeep), shopping, sushi (shout out to Kotobuki), and did we mention shopping. Josh more grounded and level headed, but talk about soccer or Star Wars and Josh will light up. Melissa definitely has a taste for the finer things in life, hence her nickname of “Bougie”. Josh is quite happy to be in sweatpants and for him, as long as they are comfortable it does not matter whose name is on the side. Josh has a rye smile that hides a dry wit, a sarcastic tongue, but behind his more gruff exterior, Josh has an intense sensitivity that he often hides from the world. Melissa could sell sand to a Bedouin, is quick as a whip, and has a soft heart. Though more serious at times, Josh does enjoy frivolity, he truthfully loves to be in someways an annoying child. One of his favorite activities was hiding Dreidels at places he worked, and some places he did not. During their time together at Starbucks, Melissa would fall victim to many of Josh’s so-called pranks. He once tied her apron to a drawer without her knowing. She for her part, tried many times to hit Josh with a bottle-cap from one of the empty milk cartons…but her aim is not amazing. To do this day, they are pretty sure during the re-model of their store after they had long left, there were still milk-caps being found. That is not to say that Melissa could not be “annoying” as well. Melissa terrorized the store, including Josh after Frozen came out, as she wandered around the store singing songs from it, perpetually asking Josh if he would, “wanna build a snow man.” Josh Found Melissa’s unbridled energy cute and Melissa found Josh’s pranks endearing. Soon they were texting and talking often. Melissa made it a point to let Josh know that even though he was her boss at Starbucks, she was not going to listen to him. Frustrating as that can be, Josh just let her do what she wanted because he found it easier to do than then argue with her and she was good at her job at that time. Just as things maybe started to turn romantic, Melissa had a dream come true though and got accepted to Disney's College Program, she would need to leave and Josh would be sad. He no longer had someone constantly and consistently annoying him, or as he messaged her once she had settled in Orlando, “I miss your crappy parking.”&nbsp;While Melissa was very happy because this was her dream. She was also sad because it meant she could not annoy Josh on a daily basis, though some of that came with relief as it meant he would stop hiding her phone in boxes while it was on silent. This sadness was a Eureka! moment for them both. The fact that they were sad over no longer being able to see one another meant something to them, they both figured out that they were more than friends, and that they wanted to move on from platonic to romantic. Later that year, Josh got accepted to a pre-med summer program and ended up moving a few hours away from Melissa. This is where they really started their love story. They visited one another as often as they could. Josh did well in this program and was therefore granted admittance to attend a foreign medical school. Melissa for her part, completed her College Program with Disney. She then went back to Starbucks to continue working but it was very much not the same anymore. While she had friends there, it was missing something…Josh. They would talk and skype every day. Each end of the semester when Josh would come home, they would spend every day with one another. When Josh finally came home for good, they quickly established their power couple status. Josh soon got ready to start his 3rd year of medical school and had to move to Atlanta, Georgia. Josh asked Melissa to move in with him, and Melissa gladly accepted. Their journey took another step forward and this time together. They packed up and moved to Georgia, making a home together for the first time. Melissa still itched to return to Disney though, and after Josh completed his 3rd year they moved again. This time to establish a permanent base of operations in “Sunny” Orlando, Florida! They also fulfilled another dream of Melissa's, they expanded the love they had for one another and got a cat, Maleficient! As the year took a turn and Covid started up, Josh was thinking about what he wanted to be, where he wanted to be and other future plans. While he wanted to remain in Florida and hopefully as close as he could to Orlando. Fate had other plans, and Josh was accepted into a residency out of state so once again Josh and Melissa had to live separately from one another. They did their best to make the drive to see one another as often as possible. It would be during this separation that Melissa decided their home was still too quiet and clean…so naturally you buy a Chinchilla named Chewbacca (want to take a guess who named him?) &nbsp;For Melissa's birthday, they went to California to visit Disneyland (Josh's first time and who knows how many for Melissa). Unknown to Melissa, Josh had a surprise for Melissa in his backpack. On a cool, warm Sunday California morning, Disneyland park opened up. Melissa being the person she was, was talking and making friends with the cast members, telling tales and comparing work stories. Josh however was nervous, and sweating (nothing new, but for a different reason this time). When Melissa was not looking, in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle, Josh got down on one knee and Melissa realized what was about to happen. Josh is skittish, and even though he had a speech, it all went away as Melissa freaked out and cried (essentially she scared Josh). Eventually, Josh was able to get out the words, "will you." Melissa could not get the engagement ring on her finger fast enough and said "Yes." &nbsp;The rest is history...for now...this tale will continue at their wedding.

(Aunt) Maryanne is not only the best godmother I could have ever asked for, but also my Disney-loving, outfit-twinning aunt who brings endless joy and laughter into my life. Fun fact: She came into Starbucks when Josh and I worked together over 10 years ago, and jokingly told him to stop flirting with me- clearly, her instincts were spot on! Her unwavering support and love mean the world to me, and I am deeply honored to have her by my side as my Matron of Honor on this special day.

Laura is my amazing cousin and one of the toughest, most genuine people I know. As the enforcer of 'cousin law,' she requires me to share every major fashion purchase for discussion and approval- a role she takes very seriously! She's my favorite partner in all things designer talk and holds a very special place in my heart- making her an irreplaceable part of my life and this special day.

Laura

Kelly was my first real friend in Orlando, and we instantly bonded over our shared love of Broadway, cats, Disney, and, of course, being equally annoyed with a co-worker. She's someone that who isn't afraid to tell you exactly how she feels- and I absolutely love her for it. This will be her third time as a bridesmaid this year, but one thing's for sure: she won't be wearing blue (seriously. . That was her first question!). I'm so lucky to have her by my side for this special day!
