Our Wedding

Well, okay, it was actually an uncomfortably hot August Saturday at Lambeau Field. Packers vs. Jets preseason. Melissa was in the south endzone with some friends and family, Drew was on the visitor side with some friends. The link? Ashley, a college friend of Melissa's and girlfriend of Drew's friend Joey. A mid-third quarter meetup was planned, numbers were exchanged, the Packers lost. After two weeks of texting, they went on their first date on Labor Day 2021, a nice walk by the lake in Port Washington. From there it was more Packer games, then Brewers games, then Packers, then Brewers. And in between exploring Milwaukee and Kenosha, trying new breweries and beer gardens, and trying to find the meat market with the best brats (verdict: they're all great, can't go wrong with any of them!) Add in weekend trips to Green Bay and Madison to visit family and friends, and a few up north trips including camping in the middle of nowhere. And of course frequent trips to Kopp's for Ultimate Cookie Dough custard and lots of tummy rubs for Scout. After two years of wearing out the roads between Milwaukee and Kenosha, Drew moved in with Melissa and Scout. He gained a house and a dog, Melissa gained a live-in spider killer. A win-win for both. The vegetable garden has also flourished having two caretakers to check on it daily and Drew to actually water it. On June 14, 2024 during a routine garden walk, Drew commented on how much they had built up the garden over the past year, pulled out a ring, and asked Melissa how much more she thought they could do with a lifetime. It was a perfect moment (except for the missing "yes" or "no" questions Melissa was expecting, which caused her to panic and respond "for real?" which Drew did not appreciate, but it did prompt him to ask a "yes" or "no" questions to which Melissa did say "yes.") and the rest is history.

It was a cold November Sunday at Lambeau Field...
