How are you getting to Tulum? Is the bus safe?
Great question—and yes, the bus is totally safe and actually very comfortable! Kim and I will be taking the ADO bus from Cancún Airport to Tulum, and it’s the most common and affordable way to get there.
Tickets cost around $15 USD, and the ride takes about 2 hours. The buses are modern and clean, with big cushy seats, air conditioning, and personal movie screens at each seat. It’s a relaxing way to travel after your flight, and we’ll probably grab some snacks and just enjoy the ride.
If you’re nervous or unsure about it, don’t worry—we’re happy to help you book your ticket or even ride together if our times align!
Is it safe in Tulum?
Yes. Tulum is a popular and welcoming destination that draws travelers from all over the world. Like any place, it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings, but the areas we’ll be in, especially Aldea Zama, are safe and well-traveled.
We know some of the stories people hear about Mexico can sound scary or extreme. It’s also true that many of those stories are shaped by stereotypes or fears that don’t reflect the real, vibrant, and diverse communities of this country. Mexico is not only beautiful, it’s also deeply generous, warm, and full of culture, history, and joy.
We’re lucky to have family from Mexico, including some who live nearby in Cancún, and they’ll be around during our celebration. If anyone ever feels unsure or needs help navigating something locally, we’ll have both family and friends nearby to support you.
We also speak Spanish and will be more than happy to help translate or communicate if you ever need a hand.
We promise that once you’re here, breathing in the jungle air and eating tacos under the stars, you’ll feel just how special this place really is.
Should I exchange money?
You can, but many places accept credit cards. Just let your bank know you’ll be traveling. ATMs are available in town for pesos if needed.
Do I need a passport?
Yes! You’ll need a valid passport to travel to Mexico. Make sure yours isn’t expired as renewals can take a few months.
What’s the dress code for the wedding?
We’re calling it "Tulum Jungle Chic." It’s earthy, elegant, and expressive—like you’re dressing for a warm night surrounded by palms, candlelight, and cenotes. 🌿
We’re inspired by natural colors like terracotta, sage green, clay, sand, soft bronze, and rich neutrals. Flowy fabrics, silk or linen textures, and anything that feels both beautiful and breathable in the jungle heat is perfect. (See our mood board for inspiration!)
There’s no strict dress code, and we want everyone to feel free to express themselves. Whether you feel best in a slip dress, suit, matching set, linen pants, jumpsuit, or something completely your own, wear what makes you feel good, confident, and comfortable.
The venue is a cenote club surrounded by nature, so we recommend comfortable shoes you can walk in (skip the stilettos!).
No need for formality as this isn’t a black-tie event—but we’d love for everyone to lean into the theme and feel like their most vibrant self.
