Our Wedding

Our story began with an introduction from our mutual friend, Esmeralda. She was someone who grew up with Jacob and has been a very close friend of mine for years. She had apparently wanted to set us up for a while but life kept getting in the way. Esmeralda believed we would be a good match and it turns out she was right! On our first date we went out for coffee and I immediately felt like he was so easy to talk to and be with. I enjoyed our time together so much I actually beat him to the punch and asked him out on a second date. After that we went on a variety of different dates and realized we had very similar natures, beliefs, and experiences. He could make me laugh and be myself without any fear and I loved seeing how quick he was to care for those around him. Jacob was there to help me through a very hard year of loss and heartache and I will forever be thankful to him for that. Even though I was in pain and not quite myself right at the start of our relationship he became a steadfast person who was safe, patient, and loving. Jacob cared for not only myself but for my family as well, which only made me fall for him more. We bonded over our love for our families, hiking, game nights, and lastly our love for Christ. Jacob encourages me to push past my fears and face things head on. He reminds me that life can be fun and we can truly laugh together. I am grateful for his goofy nature as well, always ready to bring a little light into peoples’ lives through small pranks, playful punches, and big hugs. The rest of this year will be full of many changes. Jacob’s job will be taking us to Hawaii shortly after the wedding and I am so excited to start this next chapter as Mr and Mrs Daugherty.

Melissa’s Point of view

Covid was a very strange time to start dating. I remember walking towards the coffee shop to meet Melissa for the first time only to realize that I might not recognize her due to everyone wearing masks! Luckily I found her without issue and when the masks came off I got to see how beautiful she is. As we walked around town, the first thing I noticed was how genuine she is. The following dates reinforced that and continued to reveal the depth of her character as I got to see time and time again how caring and kind she is to everyone around her. The first time I got to have dinner with her family was nerve wrecking but also a huge relief as I got to see that Melissa was the same person around me as she was around her family (although a little weirder when she is around her siblings!).  I cant wait to embark on this new chapter with Melissa as we not only start our life together, but also move to Hawaii. There is no one I would rather do life with than her.

Courter Country farm has some amazing animals including alpacas, goats, chickens, and rabbits. If there are any long waiting times during the wedding day we encourage exploring the farm. No children under the age of 12 allowed in with the animals unattended. Fingers look like carrots, be careful. Stand outside the fences when feeding animals, they will jump up like dogs with excitement.
