What time can I arrive to the venue?
The ceremony is at 5, and guests can arrive as early as 4:30!
Are the wedding ceremony and reception in the same place?
Yes, both the wedding ceremony and reception will take place at the Nineteenth Century Club (178 Forest Ave #1, Oak Park, IL 60301). The ceremony will take place downstairs, followed by the cocktail hour. After the cocktail hour, the reception will take place upstairs.
Where can I reserve a hotel room?
Great question! We've reserved a block of rooms at the Carleton Hotel-- 1110 Pleasant St, Oak Park, IL 60302, about a 10 minute walk from the venue. If you call the hotel at (708) 848-5000, you'll receive our discounted rate of $181/night for either a King room or a double suite. You are by no means required to stay at this hotel, but it is the closest one by about 25 minutes in terms of distance.
What's the parking situation like?
There is a paid parking garage across the street from the venue-- parking is approximately $5 for 6 hours.
How are you meeting accessibility needs at the wedding?
The Nineteenth Century Club is accessible both via stairs and elevator.
We will have a "quiet area" downstairs in the lounge for guests to visit if they'd like a break from the noise of the reception.
If there are auditory or visual accommodations you need, please reach out to Melody or Steve and we will do our best to accomodate!
What is the dress code?
The official answer is "cocktail attire". The unofficial answer is-- we want you to wear whatever makes you feel your best and most confident! Dress pants, button downs, dresses (any length), skirts, blouses, or jumpsuits are all highly encouraged! Please do not wear white.
Pro-tip-- it is the suburbs of Chicago in October-- it might be very chilly or very warm. Layers are recommended!
Can I bring my child/dog/Barber's Nephew's Cousin to the wedding with me?
Invitations will arrive with all names of whom is specifically invited. If you receive a plus-one, you can indicate who they are when you RSVP through our website. We kindly ask that you do not bring extra guests not indicated on your invitation, due to limited space. Additionally, our wedding is limited to guests 16 and older. No animals are permitted outside of service dogs.
*Note: If you received a Save-the-Date, plus-ones were not indicated. Plus-Ones will be indicated on the invitations, you can reach out to Steve or Mel with any questions.
Is there a theme?
Yes, we will have a light Theatre-theme for the wedding... ironically, this was Steve's idea!
Will there be alcohol?
Yes! We will host a 4-hour open bar. The bar will be closed during dinner service.
What about food?
We'll provide a buffet-style dinner, dessert buffet, wedding cake, and a "late-night bite"!
Can I take photos/videos during the ceremony?
We invite you to take all the photos and videos you want during the reception, but we'd like the ceremony to be a moment when all our loved ones are present together. As such, we are requesting no photos or videos during the ceremony. That said, our officiants will lead a brief "media minute" to capture any photos/videos you'd like to take during the ceremony.
Is there a wedding hashtag?
Obviously! It's #LoveAtchley (Note: While Melody is not changing her last name, Atchley is Steve's last name and "Love Actually" is one of Melody's favorite movies.)
My question was not answered here. Where can I get more information?
