Melrica and Jaylin's story starts at Longwood University in 2016. Jaylin was studying Criminal Justice, and Melrica was studying Athletic Training at the time. The couple met through a mutual friend, and their friendship began to flourish.

During Jaylin's senior year, the two became close friends by hanging out more often and attending his fall date party together. After Jaylin graduated from Longwood in 2018, they were unable to see each other as much; however, they made time to hang out every once in a while. Jaylin was going through the Henrico Police Academy, and in 2019, when he graduated, Melrica was able to attend.

Finally, in 2020, after spending more time together and getting to know each other, they officially became a couple on September 13.

During their three years of dating, they experienced Melrica graduating from Longwood with her degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Jaylin earning his master's in Criminal Justice from Liberty, job changes, and life challenges. However, their love continued to grow with the help of friends and family.

After three years of dating, Jaylin proposed on February 25, 2024, in Maymont Park with the help of amazing friends. In the same week, Jaylin and Melrica traveled back to Melrica's hometown in South Africa, where Jaylin was able to meet Melrica's grandpa and other family members.

Our wedding day is something we are both looking forward to. It will be a day of love, laughter, and joy. We are eagerly awaiting the day to celebrate our love with the support and affection of family and friends beside us!
