Mary is where the Irish influence of our wedding stems from and Tunisia is Karim's home country.

Ibrahim is the middle child of the Annabi siblings. He is quick witted and loves a good time. Mohamedhakeem is the youngest sibling, he is kind and has a sarcastic sense of humor. He has Irish blood but Indian spice tolerance. Harissa is not hot enough for him!

Uncle Brian is Sonya's fun uncle. When Sonya went to Ireland in 2018, he, Grace and Sonya traveled to the North to see all the beauty Ireland has to offer as well as introducing her to extended family.

Sonya is very close to her aunts (her mom's youngest sisters) who frequented the U.S. a lot when Sonya, Abe and Mohamed were young.

Rachel and Sonya are best friends with their birthdays a month apart. Michael is Rachel's older brother and chosen brother to Sonya and her brothers. They all grew up 50 feet from each other upstate, where they spent every summer together. Donna (Rachel's mom) and Mary would watch all the kids in the pool, and we would all have lunch and dinner together everyday. They are more like family than friends.

Sonya met Anthony and Natalia while working on the Transplant unit. They, along with their significant others, are all close friends now. They get dinner monthly and travel regularly together.

While in college, Sonya babysat Sanaa. Sumi always checked in on Sonya post graduation. During COVID she bought dinner for Sonya's unit! They have maintained close ties ever since and have spent many Eid's in NYC together.

Sonya and Aneesah met because they were in the same nursing scholar program at Hunter College - CUNY. They became fast friends. Later they realized they were in similiar Islamic communities but never knew of each other. Aneesah, Ilana and Sonya spent many days studying together. Their college groupchat name was "No One Left Behind."

Ilana and Sonya met in nursing school and lived on the same floor of the Hunter dorms. They became fast friends and were often confused for each other (?). Ilana, Aneesah and Sonya were a trio and spent most days and nights together.

Razan and Sonya have been friends since middle school. Despite distance, Razan moved to Jordan for high school and later moved to Ohio, they have remained close friends. Razan is artistically inclined and graciously helped create our invitations.

Sophie and Sonya met at work and became close friends especially once they realized they had the same sense of humor. They soon realized they lived five blocks from one another and then shared dinners, work outs and walks in the park together. Meraaj and Sophie also became great friends and now they all grab dinner together regularly.

Sonya’s mom, Mary, and Caroline are friends since high school. They worked together in Joe Dunnes Confectionery shop. Their friendship continued through the years despite an ocean in between.

Sonya’s mom and Frances came to the U.S. together. Frances and Sonya’s dad worked in the same restaurant and she introduced them…the rest is history!
