We met in grad school at Appalachian State studying speech-language pathology. Meredith laid eyes on Emily on day 1 of orientation and knew Emily was her person. However… it took Emily 3 months to realize that Meredith was flirting. Emily finally realized Meredith was interested during an assignment where Meredith responded to Emily’s video by saying, “I was so mesmerized by your earrings that I had to keep watching your video on repeat.”
❤️Our first date happened 11/4/22. We hiked the summit trail at Elk Knob State Park and then went to Wild Craft for dinner.
🧡We made it official on 11/10/22. We had an inside joke about peeling our layers back like an onion as we got to know each other. Meredith gave Emily an onion with a hidden message inside asking her to be official.
💛We knew we loved each other within the first month of dating, but we didn’t communicate that until 3 months in. Emily said it first, Meredith reciprocated.
💚Around the 3 month mark, Emily suffered a mild TBI. We unofficially moved in together and learned that we work well in sickness, in health, and in concussions.
💙We went from living super closely in Boone to doing 3 hour distance when Meredith left for her Raleigh internship. But absence makes the heart grow fonder…
💜Emily moved to Greensboro, and Meredith followed. 1/1/25, we officially moved in together! Our first apartment was at Lake Brandt
💖Meredith proposed under the blood moon at 2:30am on 3/14/25 since the prior blood moon was our last date before becoming an official couple! Emily didn’t see it coming. Meredith snuck Emily’s supervisor’s number to get her the next day off, and we celebrated with a salon and all-you-can-eat sushi day!
