Rashad and I met on New Years Eve in 2017 at a bar in Auburn. I had just graduated from Auburn earlier in December and was about to start my first job at an elementary school in Auburn. Rashad was living in Auburn at the time. After kissing at midnight we both decided to take a chance on one another. Once the school year ended I moved back to New Jersey to get a job closer to home and Rashad stayed in Auburn. When I moved back home we decided to give long distance a try. Four years of long distance consisted of a lot of plane rides back and forth to see one another, trips to the lake and beach, movie nights and dinner dates. After 4 long years of long-distance dating many flights to Atlanta airport for me and Newark airport for him, we knew it was time to move closer to one another. Lucky for me, Rashad was willing to move to New Jersey. So, he moved to New Jersey we found our first apartment together, found our favorite go-to restaurants, and even got our first dog together, Coco. After over a year of living together, my dad asked me, When are you and Rashad going to get married already? Little did I know a few weeks after this conversation, Rashad asked my dad for his permission to marry me. This all happened without me even mentioning the conversation between me and my dad. Rashad planned out the proposal and on a Wednesday in January, January 10th, 2024, Rashad asked me to marry him at my parents house in front of my whole family and his mom. I was so surprised and I am so excited to marry my best friend!
