Our official relationship began September 21st 2020 (Mer's 21st birthday), exactly 5 years (and one day) from our wedding day--but our story begins long before that. We had always known each other growing up. Our dads went to grade school and high school together, creating childhood memories filled with first sleepovers, days on the lake, and gatherings at the Green’s house. Joe and Mer officially crossed paths when we both attended Our Lady of Victory for middle school and later, brother-sister high schools. We had each other's contact and were always friendly, but that was the extent of it. Years later, our paths crossed again when Mer began nannying for a family just houses down the street from the Merucci house during college. Countless times, she’d walk past their house or play with the kids at the park behind it; although Joe wasn't aware. That same summer of 2020, encouraged by mutual friends (soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. Stinebiser!), Joe asked Mer on a date. By pure coincidence, the first text Joe ever sent to Mer was while he was out on the lake Mer’s dad grew up on. That night of our first date, as fate would have it, Mer’s aunt and uncle, the Liddells, were having dinner at the Merucci house. Joe greeted them in the driveway, completely unaware of their connection to Mer. It wasn’t until the day after our first date that Joe mentioned to his parents who he’d been out with. Our moms were quick to make a phone call to each other, excited for us both. After our first date, we spent the next several days, and the rest of that summer together. Joe headed off to his senior year at Hope and Mer to her junior year at UofM. Those college years were filled with road trips to Joe’s baseball games, Michigan football tailgates, and long weekends spent together. Our families grew closer too, sharing holidays, trips, and nights out, until our parents’ friend groups blended into one. After we both graduated, Joe bought a condo in Detroit and began working for Sony and Mer began PA school, set to graduate and take her boards in August 2025. We love to enjoy date nights in Detroit trying new restaurants and going to Detroit sporting events. Throughout the years, Joe has not stopped planning romantic dates, and we continue to fall in love with each other more deeply every day. We look forward to even the simplest nights spent together, enjoying each other's company as two very best friends. On October 25th 2024, Joe proposed with the diamond from Mer's mother's wedding ring, the one her father had picked out. With the diamond that is now on her hand, she will forever carry the love and protection of two incredible men. We celebrated that unforgettable, perfect night surrounded by family, the same way we’ve always lived our story: intertwined with the people we love most. We often marvel at the invisible string that has tied us together all these years, weaving through the moments, places, and people who brought us here. Every day, our love grows deeper, and we are so excited to celebrate the start of forever with you all on September 20th, 2025!

We have a room block reserved at The Sheraton Hotel, which is less than a mile up the road from Meadowbrook for Thursday, Friday, and/or Saturday nights. Use this website link to book through our block by August 27th. We will have shuttles running to and from the Sheraton and Meadowbrook throughout the night.

This is an option for our guests looking for more of an upscale experience. This resort is located 12 minutes from Meadowbrook Country Club.

Saint John's Resort

This is an option for our guests opting for more of a suite&nbsp;experience.&nbsp;This hotel is approximately 15 minutes from reception venue Meadowbrook Country Club.&nbsp;

Accommodations

In between our ceremony and reception, you'll have some time to spare. We encourage our guests to use that time to check into their hotels, freshen up, or take some pictures, but there are also plenty of fun things to do both in Detroit and Northville! One thing to be aware of is our ceremony is approximately 25 minutes from our reception location, so be sure to factor that travel time into your day.

Explore Corktown neighborhood where Mer &amp; Joe live and check out the architecture and history of the newly renovated Michigan Central, just 7 minutes away from the ceremony. This weekend they are holding Cars At The Station event!

A great place to watch the Michigan game and grab a quick drink, 6 minutes away from the ceremony.

Downtown Northville where both Mer &amp; Joe grew up is beautiful in the fall! Walking around on main street is a great way to pass the time, but you can also stop and get a drink at Exchange, 160 Main, Table5, or a coffee at Tuscan Cafe.
