Sunstone’s original 28-acre vineyard was planted in 1990 to Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Viognier. Since its planting, our vineyard has always been bio-sustainably farmed meeting the highest organic farming standards in viticulture. It is believed that Sunstone is now the oldest, continuously organically grown vineyard in Santa Barbara County.Named after the exposed sun-dappled shale and stones of the vineyard estate, Sunstone is the premiere destination winery on the California Central Coast, Located just 35-minutes north of Santa Barbara, locals many times over have honored Sunstone by the Santa Barbara Independent reader poll as “Santa Barbara’s Favorite Red Wine” and “Best Santa Ynez Valley Tasting Room”. “Tasting our wines is tasting the terroir of this special place,” he says. “When you arrive, you are surrounded by the soils and the vines that create our wines. You can feel the temperate winds that sweep between the rows, creating the perfect climate for Bordeaux and Rhone varietal grapes. Our goal is to capture the true essence of this special vineyard in your glass.”

Brothers Restaurant emphasizes personalized service, exceptional regional wines, honest and freshly-made dishes, and a welcoming atmosphere. JC’s Bar (also at the Red Barn), named for long time Brothers friend and Bar Manager JC Carricaburu, continues Matt and Jeff Nichols’ tradition of celebrating the bar as a casual gathering place for eating, drinking and socializing. Chef Luca Crestanelli was born and raised in Verona, Italy where he received his Gastronomy and Culinary Arts degree. In 2010, Luca was invited by the Gordon family, owners of Brentwood’s famed Toscana, to become Executive Chef, and launch their new Bar Toscana, an impossibly chic bar located next door to their legendary trattoria.
Several years later Crestanelli learned about an old farmhouse/restaurant that had become available in downtown Santa Ynez. He had always envisioned himself creating a rustic restaurant, sourcing his products from local fisherman, ranchers, farmers and vintners, and infusing his Italian style with a rural sensibility. Chef Luca pitched the idea to Toscana owners Mike and Kathie Gordon. Already residents of Santa Ynez, they enthusiastically embraced the idea and partnered with him to create S.Y. Kitchen in 2013.
In the fall of 2020, Crestanelli and his team opened Nella Kitchen & Bar in the Fess Parker Wine Country Inn in Los Olivos.

Taverns have flourished along Santa Ynez’s Sagunto Street since 1906. Sixty years ago, four busy bars entertained the locals and visitors alike. These establishments were named Last Chance, the Bum Steer, Parker’s and the Maverick Saloon. While three of the four original taverns have since disappeared into history, the legendary Maverick Saloon is still going strong and continues to be a staple in the Santa Ynez valley.
Today, the logo mirrors, posters, lighted beer signs and rusted horseshoes line the wooden walls, offering snapshots of the past that reflect decades of revelry. Overhead, the ceiling flutters with paper money bearing scribbled birthday wishes, business cards, meeting notes, names and wobbly autographs-- an aerial guest book just waiting for more entries.
