Our Wedding

You might say we were destined to be together. It all started at my cousin's wedding back in January 2020 before we had ever met. Our dads were talking at the reception, and David noticed my niece and me on the dance floor and asked my dad how old I was. I was 25 at the time and Carson was 26 (and not at the wedding). David tells my dad, "We should really get Meredith and Carson together!" A couple months later, we both swiped right on Bumble. Although if you ask Carson's dad, he'll tell you it was on FarmersOnly.com. Turns out, my sister used to live next door to Carson and his family, and that was his opening line, "I think I know your sister". As we got to talking for a few months, we finally decided to meet in person and get together at my sister's house for dinner.That night led to a real first date on May 24th where Carson drove us all the way to Franklin, Texas for a drive-thru safari. A total of 4 hours in a car with someone you don't really know could've ended very differently than it did. It actually turned out to be great conversation, comfortable silence and ended with a goodnight kiss.Although I can't remember the exact date when I told Carson "I love you", I'll never forget that he told me when it turned midnight on December 8th (my birthday).Since then, we've spent every birthday, and most holidays together. We've had relaxing vacations on the Nueces River, the beaches in Destin, lots and lots of cruises, and explored Scotland and England together. Carson has shown me around Aggieland, and his family's hometown of Hallettsville. He's embraced my on-the-go lifestyle and the wonderful circus that is my family. I've embraced him always wanting a project (although he blames me for those), and his dog Hemi.Carson bought quite the fixer upper of a house in the heart of Liberty in February 2022. On June 1st, we moved in together to a beautifully redone home. Many days and a couple years later, August of 2024 came around.We took a staycation at the Marriot Marquee in Houston. We floated the lazy river, went out for nice dinners and had a wonderful weekend. The whole time, hoping for a proposal. Sunday afternoon is upon us and I'm thinking, "oh well, maybe next weekend." So, I have another drink (or 3) and continue to float the river; all the while Carson is bobbing and weaving me in and out of the water fountains, so my hair doesn't get wet. We change to go home, and Carson says the place we're going is too nice for shorts and that I should wear the dress I had on yesterday. We start to head home but stop at some fancy gun store that Carson just must see. We get there only to find out that they're closed. (Carson already knew this.) We then make a stop at the Waterwall Park. We get out of the car and head towards the waterfall. We ooh and awe and start to head back to the car, but not the way we came. Carson insisted on walking back on the pathway under the trees. He says, "wouldn't that be a good picture?" I respond with "no, you've got to have people in it." I take his phone for a selfie, and just as I'm about to hand his phone back, he's on one knee, and says, "Mere, will you marry me?" My hands over my mouth and tears in my eyes I nod first, and finally get out, "yes, of course I will." He put the most gorgeous ring I've ever seen on my finger. The car ride home was the best car ride I've ever had. We met our families at his parent's house for an engagement party where we popped champagne and took in all the excitement. Now, here we are planning what I know will be the best day of our lives. We couldn't be more thrilled to spend the rest of our lives together. We know that not every day will be perfect, and some will be harder than others, but we know we have the love and support from so many people that care about us. We can't wait to celebrate with everyone on September 20th. FINALLY!
