Q + A

When and how should I RSVP?

Please RSVP by October 11 on the homepage of this website so we can make sure we have food and fun waiting for you when you arrive.

Where is the wedding?

The wedding is at Noce Jazz + Cabaret, 1326 Walnut St, Des Moines, IA 50309. Just a fifteen minute walk from our apartment and our hotel block, this swanky jazz club has the perfect atmosphere. Velvet curtains, trombone chandelier, fancy mirrors to take selfies in? They’ve got it all.

I’m flying in, what should I know?

The Des Moines International Airport is a short 12 minute drive from downtown Des Moines! The airport itself is very easy to navigate through, but construction may be occurring when you fly in due to the addition of another terminal (yay!). There are plenty of ride share options available, but unfortunately the hotel shuttle does not go to the airport. If you are ~Uber~ worried about it, let us know how we can help!

Where should I stay?

We have a hotel block with the Holiday Inn Express and Suites at 333 SW 11th St Des Moines, IA 50309. You’ll need to book with them under the Thomas-Murphy Wedding before October 24. There are also plenty of hotels and vacation rentals around Des Moines that would be within walking distance of Noce. Wherever you rest your head at the end of the night, all the dancing you’ll do is sure to put you right to sleep!

How do I get there and where should I park?

Noce does NOT have a parking lot. We strongly recommend utilizing Uber or the free hotel shuttle from the Holiday Inn that our hotel block is booked through. If you are driving to Noce, there is VERY limited metered street parking or nearby parking ramps. Walking is also quite easy from many downtown locations. If you drink and drive from our wedding you smell bad!

What should I wear?

The requested attire for our wedding is Semi-Formal. We would like everyone to look and feel their best in whatever they choose to wear. This means no jeans or t-shirts, but rather what you might wear to a nice dinner out like dressy pants and a polo, or a knee length dress. Celebrate with us in something that makes you feel great and gets you ready to party! Additionally, don't wear white...duh.

Who’s in the room?

We are so glad you asked! We have quite a variety of people joining us for our special day. Some of you we see every week, and others we haven’t gotten to see in years. In total you’ll be partying with our 100 favorite people from twelve states, six generations, and many first time visitors to Iowa! Friends from our high schools, college, workplaces, and more are going to be in attendance. Bottom line, this is going to be a hoot and a half!

What will the weather be like?

We would also love to know! Iowa is quite unpredictable when it comes to late fall, but we will watch the weather closely and send a text to everyone seven days prior to the wedding to help you prepare. It could be a chilly day with snowfall or get some beautiful fall sunny wind. Everyone do whatever ritual they feel will work to get us a beautiful fall day! The skies have to listen to all of us, surely.

I have another question what should I do?!

If you’re reading this before November 13th, please ask us! We are so honored you’ll be celebrating with us, and we will do anything to ensure you have a great time in Des Moines. If it is November 13-23rd we will be very busy putting the final touches together for our day and won’t be able to help. Please reach out to Meredith’s mom, Julia Finley, if it is truly urgent after November 13.
