Josh and I met on Tinder, where everyone meets these days. At the time he lived in Washington, NC and I live in Swansboro, NC. Our first date was a boat ride on the river at sunset! We had been talking about a boat ride for a few weeks before we actually went out. Along with my favorite food, Chinese! After our boat ride, he took me to get Chinese. Not sure if he was hungry for it or just trying to impress me, but either way it worked. Our relationship was more of a weekend thing considering we lived an hour away from each other, but that made for the best weekend. We had a lot in common, such as hunting and fishing and that is what we did on our weekends. We met each others families and enjoyed the holidays together since they were our first ones. On Christmas Eve, next to my moms Christmas tree, he told me he loved me. I knew it was coming because of how nervous he was and based on things he had been saying. New Years came around and he moved in with me in Swansboro. This was a huge adjustment for me at the beginning, living with a guy. We have learned a lot about each other and the way we live. It hasn't been too bad because we are getting married haha. Over the Summer I felt like a proposal was coming soon, but wasn't sure as when. Well, I was leaving for South Africa with dad at the end of July and before I left, Josh wanted to spend a day with me. He took off from work and we went on a boat right that Friday Morning. I didn't think too much into it because I just thought it was a nice gesture. Well, we got up early and went on the boat. He was telling me how much he loved and all the mushy things that morning. Once we got under the Emerald Isle bridge, he asked me to get a lure out of his tackle bag. I opened it up and picked up the black drawstring "Bailey's Jewelry" bag and had no idea. I asked him which one he wanted and he said the one in his hand. So I handed it to him and he got down on his knee. Again, didn't think anything of it because he was on the platform and was going to put the lure on his pole. He opens the bag and starts saying "you know how our relationship started on the water? Well I think we should take the next step on the water". He pulls out the ring and shows it to me. I just stand there excited and don't say a thing! He asks me, "well are you going to say yes?". Obviously I did, and here we are :)
