When Jake posted on the Facebook group Meet Jew University Dating on April 23 2020, I was immediately smitten. From his post, I learned that he shared many of my interests such as cooking and trying new foods, kitchen dancing, watching comedy specials, and exploring nature. I took to Facebook messenger and sent him a message. I had a feeling this was going to become something very special. When I realized that his family lives in the town next to mine, and that the apartment he was living in was in the same town I went to college in (shout out Hamden, CT!) I, a big believer of signs, was elated. We even realized that we attended the same Bat Mitzvah a few years ago! For a week or two, Jake and I snapchatted, texted, facetimed, and talked on the phone. It was tricky because we wanted to meet in person, but our families both took social distancing very seriously.

Due to COVID, my college graduation was virtual, so my parents planned a surprise drive-by. It was so nice to see family and friends, but nothing will ever beat the feeling I had when an unfamiliar car drove up and I realized it was Jake. My brother Jonah (who was only 10 at the time) knew how much I was enjoying talking to Jake, so he found Jake's number in my phone, gave it to my mom, and she invited him! Jake was a total trooper, not only did he meet me, but he met most of my extended family that day. He wound up staying for a few hours after everyone left. Even from 6 feet apart, our connection was undeniable.

The next weekend, on May 25 2020, Jake asked me to be his girlfriend, and after a few weeks, our families both decided it was alright to allow each other into our immediate “COVID circles”.

It's crazy to think that this all happened over 4 years ago, and now Jake and I are preparing for our wedding! Every day, we love each other a little bit more, and I am so ecstatic to spend the rest of my life with Jake.
