Mersadies is a native of Washington DC but spent the latter part of her childhood between Durham, NC, and Greensboro, NC. She left the tri-city area to pursue a Psychology degree through Chowan University and Durham Tech. Along the way, she discovered a passion for Optometry and has been working as an Optometric Technician for over 4 years with private practices. Candace hails from Greenwood, SC, but left to pursue her bachelor's degree, starting at Clemson University before transferring to the University of South Carolina. Upon earning her degree in Hospitality Management, she stayed in Columbia, SC, until she joined the US Navy as an Aviation Electrician. Following an honorable discharge, she relocated from Virginia Beach, VA, where she was stationed, to Charlotte, NC. She then achieved her Human Resources certification and MBA from Charleston Southern University, eventually settling into an operations role with Charlotte Area Transit. As cliché as it may sound, the two met through a dating app and decided to go on a first date after several hours of casual conversations. It felt as if they had known each other for years on that first date, neither wanting it to end and both continuously finding new activities to extend their time together. Soon, they became inseparable, spending most of their free time between Greensboro and Charlotte. After what felt like a whirlwind courtship between two kindred spirits, Candace popped the question on what was supposed to be an ordinary date night. With a shared laugh over an inside joke ("two shakes of a lamp"), Mersadies enthusiastically said yes, ready to begin their life together…
