Story

We met in 2018 at a Gateway students Christmas party when Nathan was passing out s'mores to the students. While handing out smores Mia came up to the table to grab one. Somehow we ended up talking about smores for about 15 minutes, not even sure how that is possible. We weren’t immediately friends but Nathan started to ask me if she wanted to play 9 square with the students almost every week so he could talk to me more. Those were most of our interactions until summer of 2019 when we were having our Gateway Students summer kickoff. We ended up both being there early to help set up for the water balloon fight later that night. We sat at the kiddy pool and filled up water guns and balloons together. It was really easy to talk and fun squirting water guns at each other while setting up. Later that night after we left, Nathan sent me a message on Instagram. I was with my best friend Morgan telling her about him at the time so I was super excited when I got his message. What started with small talk ended up being everyday long conversation and getting to know each other. Then Gateway student conference comes around and we just so happen to serve on the same team together. We both had several moments where we liked each other but couldn't tell if the other liked us back. Immediately after the conference Mia left for vacation and we talked every day while she was gone. While she was on vacation we started planning our first date to go see spiderman and eat at ihop afterwards. However, somehow Nathan didn’t think it was a date even though he picked me up and paid for everything (totally a date). Our second date will always be one of our favorites. We took the train to Downtown Fort worth. This was the date where we could tell this was going to be different, it was special. We had a long talk about our lives in a Starbucks and a really sweet moment on the train when Mia put her head on my shoulder. Now two years later, after many cute dates, special moments, receiving prophetic words about our relationship, and getting to know each other for all of our goofy quirks, I know I’ll be spending the rest of my life with the love of my life.
