On April 4th, I phoned my best friend Toni for our usual chat a few days before my upcoming trip to Liberia, where I intended to celebrate my 39 1/2 birthday. During our conversation, she mentioned that someone had shown interest in me. Without inquiring further, I maintained the conversation's flow, as I wasn't initially interested. She broached the subject once more, but I had to return to work.
Later that day, I received a call from an unfamiliar number. Upon answering, the caller identified himself as "Col, Homan," explaining that Toni had shared my number. Out of 'respect' for Toni (and my intention to discuss her giving away my number without permission), I decided to continue the conversation. I introduced myself as Dr. Getaweh, ensuring that he didn't solely flaunt his title. This led to a conversation about his use of titles, and from there, we delved into our discussion. He was easy to talk to, and we instantly connected. That day we talked for a long time, extending past my usual bedtime. It exuded a sense of honesty and authenticity that I had longed for.
From our initial conversation, I sensed that he was a special person. At the time, my friend Gigi was also praying for me to meet someone during my journey to Liberia. Interestingly, Daniel was traveling to Liberia as well. We met in Liberia for the first time, spending nearly two weeks simply getting to know each other. By the end of the trip, both of us were certain that we would spend the rest of our lives together.
On October 3, while vacationing in Puerto Rico, the Col asked me to marry him. It was a complete surprise, but it unfolded exactly as I would have wished, just the two of us in our hotel room.
We found love!
