Growing up in the same church since 1st grade, you would think their beginnings took root early. Well, other than Izzy being best friends with Micah’s cousin, and Micah just known as one of those Brisco brothers who never misbehaved. It would seem they did not even know each other existed, until pretty much Seniors in High School. Some would say Micah may have noticed Izzy prior to that, with a minor crush in 10th grade, but we haven’t gotten the truth out of him yet.
As two Seniors in a church play, supposed to “pretend” fall in love, two High School Sweethearts now began a journey they never could have imagined happening. The early on phrase, “Well, I don’t know why you wouldn’t be the one,” changed half a decade later, after quite the dating experience. All while on one knee (which is harder than it looks, ask Micah later), the phrase that would set into motion the dreams and plans God had for them came true when it shifted to, “Well, it looks like I was right, you’re the one.”
Now, with the romantics aside, their story in totality is actually a bit messier than that. Their relationship has been through struggle, pain, disappointment, and grief. But, they know now how soiled they are together, they are just that much more rooted for what is to come. The waves and wind won’t stop unless The King tells them to. Until He does or unless He doesn’t, they each found the one to hold in the midst. They wouldn’t have it any other way.
Here is to the rest of forever.
Together.
