Micah and Abigail’s story began with a glitch.

Micah came across Abigail’s profile on a Christian dating app — even though she had already deleted it. To make things even more unlikely, Abigail had her distance settings limited to 45 miles, while Micah lived more than 230 miles away. By logic, he shouldn’t have seen her profile.

Micah reached out on Instagram, and Abigail noticed the message — responding only because Micah’s profile photo-a picture of Micah & Cliffe Knechtle one of her favorite, well known pastors, which quickly sparked conversation. What followed was three weeks of texting, FaceTiming, and long phone calls before Micah finally made the four-hour drive to Wilmington to spend the day together.

The first visit was a full day-starting at Airlie Gardens (where they later got engaged), then they sat on the beach for 5 hours, and had dinner on the water at sunset. On Micah’s drive home that night, a storm caused his car to hydroplane, spinning across the highway, facing the oncoming traffic — without a scratch on him or the car. He was shaken up, this felt like the craziest day ever! Just days later, Abigail sent a heartfelt message telling Micah that while he would make a wonderful husband someday, she wasn’t ready.

But Micah couldn’t shake the feeling that Abigail was his wife.

With patience, persistence, and a lot of prayer, Micah continued to show up — choosing consistency, friendship, and intentional time together. What began as an almost-impossible connection slowly grew into something undeniable.

Micah asked Abigail to be his girlfriend July 7 (yes, 2025!) and he moved to North Carolina (from Virginia) on November 6th. He changed everything in his life to pursue her.

Seven months later, what once seemed impossible now feels obvious.
