Our Story

Picture of Our Story

Once upon a time, in the land known as heaven's waiting room, there lived a crusader and a maiden. One day, the maiden was rushing to the market when she saw something that stopped her in her tracks. It was the crusader.

The crusader, busy contemplating a future Christian empire, was for the first time in his life, distracted from thoughts of war. For, low and behold, there stood a beautiful maiden. Her hair glowing like the sun and her smile shining like diamonds. The crusader astonished, for this experience was new to him. Inspired and impassioned, he decided to seek out another crusade.

In her own way, the maiden also initiated her own venture, namely, pursuit of the crusader. For the next week she visited the market every day, alert for an opportunity to encounter the knight. After eleven days, while watching the lords of the kingdom discuss policy, the moment she had been waiting for presented itself. In the back of the crowd, she spotted the crusader standing alone and lost in thought. In the direct and blunt way she was accustomed to conducting herself, the maiden approached the knight, took his hand, and led him away from the politics.

In the land of heaven's waiting room, many fantastical creatures existed. Of all different species and kinds. Many virtues and vices had become embodied in this mysterious land. During the times of the crusader and the maiden, there was also a certain dragon that had caused great unrest in the land. This dragon hated the White Dove, the embodied virtue of charity, and wished to extinguish all existence of romance and the like. He immediately took notice of the crusader since their emotional spark was upsetting his plans for destruction.

As they strolled through the forest together, the spark growing quickly into a living flame, the dragon attacked. He pinned the crusader to the ground, throwing his sword to the side and crushing his strong arms.

The maiden, knowing her physical strength was no match for the dragon, began to pray. For this particular maiden had a peculiar connection to the divine. As soon as she knelt down, a spark appeared and the White Dove illuminated before her eyes. A joyous laughter filled the air as the dove smiled and giggled like the battle had already been won. After all, anyone who knew the origins of this dove would not have been surprised. For she came from an even greater land, a land paved with golden roads and jubilant singing. In this land, there ruled an extravagant woman clothed with the stars and the moon. She was known as the Queen of Dragon Slayers and had commissioned the dove to assist the maiden and the crusader. The dove, knowing with complete confidence the power of her queen, touched the nose of the crusader with such delicacy that he was filled with such love for his maiden that his his spirit was enlivened. He jumped up, threw off the dragon, and thrust his sword through the chest of the beast. Many throughout the land would praise the crusader for his great strength and courage. However, he knew that it was actually the maiden who was the hero of the story. For without her prayer, the crusader would have been doomed. Therefore, the crusader, remembering how his maiden's love and prayers had saved his life, vowed to serve and love her for the rest of his existence.

The crusader removed his sword from the belly of the beast. He knelt before the maiden, humbly bowed his head, and offered her his bloody sword. She took the sword in one hand, and the crusader's hand in the other. The maiden pulled him close, and whispered, "After all my travels throughout this land, finally I have found England."
