We met through mutual friends in fall of 2020, I was on the phone with my best friend (Brittny: maid of honor) while she was at Jordan’s house hanging out with him and his at the time roommate, Austin (groomsman).
Jordan had asked Brittny if she had any cute friends and she mentioned me. At the time, I was not interested in dating if I am being honest. We didn’t start actually talking until fall of 2021, almost a year later.
He would come into my place of work pretty often always having to get supplies for the job he was at at the time, but he was always too nervous to talk to me, let alone make eye contact with me.
One day, I stood in the middle of the aisle with him and Brittny just making small talk.
I turned to walk off and return to what I was doing, when I was later informed that after I had walked off Jordan said to Brittny, “I’m gonna make her my wife.”
In October of 2021, he asked me out on a proper date. Something I was not used to or expecting. At first I took it as just friends getting to know each other until it hit me and I had to say to myself “oh my gosh this is a real date.”
I remember rushing home that day after work to get ready, and get Lakelyn ready to bring over to a friends house so she could watch her for me while I was out.
Fun fact: Jordan and I both called Brittny asking about what shoes to wear for this date lol.
We had dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Gallatin called ‘Garcia’s’ and then went to Brittny’s house to watch a movie after.
After only one week of going on a few dates, we became official!
If I am being completely honest, I did NOT want another relationship for a while. My plan was to focus on Lakelyn and I, but I’m sure glad I gave the long haired guy with a Jeep a chance.
Flash forward, we found out I was pregnant the day after we came back from our trip to the beach August of 2022. To be having a baby after not even a whole year of dating was definitely intimidating and scary for me since I didn’t have the best pregnancy with Lakelyn.
But Jordan stepped up and did what he needed to do as a soon to be dad and a loving and supportive boyfriend at the time.
He never left my side, gave me foot rubs, and satisfied every pregnancy craving I had no matter what time of day it was. He was proving to me that this was going to be different than the toxicity I was used to before.
I always told him I never wanted to get engaged on a holiday or my birthday, and he never forgot that. So, two days before Christmas of 2022, he made me believe we were going to take some family pictures of the 3 of us in the snow with some of his close friends and our babysitter at the time.
I definitely was not feeling taking pictures in below freezing temperatures while being 6 months pregnant with none of my cute picture worthy clothes fitting me. But I went anyways.
To say I was surprised was an understatement. We always wanted to get married, that was the end goal in us dating. So I knew it would happen, I just never knew when he planned to do it.
To see him down on one knee in 6 inches of snow with my daughter by our side made my heart melt. Not only for me, but for my daughter who he had taken in as if she was his own. Not only was I getting a future husband, but Lakelyn was also getting the father figure in her life that she needed.
We had our son, Kollin on April 18th, 2023 and it felt like our world was complete. Becoming a family of 4 was a learning experience, but having each other has made it all worthwhile.
The ups and the downs have only made us stronger as a couple and as a family.
God has definitely blessed us in many ways and we are so excited for our next steps in marriage and to grow our family!
