Our Wedding

Our story begins on December 24, 2022. It is Christmas Eve and Mike is at home with his mom, Nellie and his sister, Melissa who had came by to visit before Christmas Day. As they were talking in the kitchen, his mom was leaving a comment on CJ's recent Facebook post and mentions how cute CJ is. Melissa then asks mom to see a recent picture of CJ. As she looks at the picture, she makes a comment of how cute she is and turns to Mike and tells him to reach out to CJ and be friends on Facebook. Be pen-pals. Mike is reluctant and puts off the comment, but Melissa then says to Mike, "For my Christmas present bro, please reach out to her and see where it takes you. What's the worse that can happen?" So Mike gave it a shot, gave his sister her Christmas present. He asks his mom to ask CJ what's the best way to contact her and to also get her number. His mom says WhatsApp is the best way to contact her and that she will give him CJ's number later. The next day, Mike gets a text from his dad, Ben, and it's a text of CJ's number and his dad tells Mike to reach out and be friends with her. Mike spends the day contemplating what to text her, what to say, he drafts a text but never sends it, he was nervous. "Hi CJ ... this is Mike Bibat ..my parents are Nellie and Ben Bibat..." December 26 2022, Mike finally builds up the courage and texts CJ in the morning. At that time, CJ was in the Philippines so it's was evening there already. He gets a response and they start chatting. It was casual to begin with, standard "get to know you" questions/answers, exchanging texts back and forth. But the next day, no texts were exchanged, did something go wrong? Mike wasn't sure what to do so he left it as is. On December 28, 2022, Mike texts CJ again and he gets a response back. From this point on, they have not missed a day of texting each other, no matter how big or small the conversation is, they always find time to chat with one another.

The Beginning

In 2013, Mike's parents met CJ and her mom, Carol, in the Philippines. In 2015, when Carol visited the US, she playfully asked about her "future son-in-law" upon entering Mike's parent's house. In 2023, her jest became reality as Mike is now Carol's son-in-law, fulfilling her playful prediction from 2015.
