Where is the wedding block reserved?
We have wedding blocks at two Ankeny hotels which are next door to each other and are both Hilton hotels: ResidenceInn at 1515 SW Main St.; and Home2 Suites to be located at 2455 SE Creekview Drive. Each room will be suite style complete with kitchenette. PLEASE NOTE: Home2 Suites is currently under construction and will not open until March 2024. We will be emailing all invited with reservation details for Home2 Suites as soon as it opens and we are provided with the information. Rooms with the ResidenceInn block can be reserved by calling the hotel at: (515) 446-7300.
Is there parking at the hotel? ceremony? reception?
The hotels with the reserved wedding blocks are located in The District, which does not have a huge amount of parking in general. The hotels have a small lot which is mainly used by guests, and there is also angle parking along the streets. St. Luke's has two parking lots - north and south. Either will allow entrance for the wedding, so please feel free to park and enter from either side. The FFA Center has its own parking lot which should have plenty of space for all reception guests.
What is the dress code for the ceremony/reception?
Ceremony -- We encourage guests to wear comfortable clothing which respects the space and ceremony taking place. While there is certainly no black-tie requirement, we kindly ask you refrain from wearing attire such as jeans, graphic t-shirts, or gym shoes. We also ask that you remove all hats during the ceremony out of respect for the worship space and wedding sacrament.
Reception -- Please feel free to wear the same attire to both the ceremony and reception. The cocktail hour will be both indoors and outdoors, weather permitting. Young children are welcome to wear nicer play clothes during cocktail hour and reception.
What is the bar situation? Should I bring cash?
No cash necessary! We will have an open bar with a limited selection of both alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. Drinks will include bottled water, various pops, beer, red and white wine, and hard seltzers.
Where are you registered?
The couple is currently registered at Amazon. In lieu of gifts, the couple would be delighted with contributions to their honeymoon fund. A link to the honeymoon fund, or the Amazon registry, can be found on the "Registry" tab of this website.
What happens after the ceremony, and before cocktail hour?
After the ceremony, each row of guests will be dismissed by the ushers to greet the bride and groom back in the gathering space. Guests are encouraged to take this time to check into their hotel, attend to their children (naps, snacks, etc.), or patron one of The District's restaurants for a drink and a snack. Cocktail hour will begin at the FFA Center atrium at 3:30 p.m., and will have drinks and snack foods. The bridal party will be taking pictures during this time, and will arrive for the reception at 5:00 p.m.
Will there be transportation between the reception venue and the hotel?
Transportation will not be provided for the reception due to the closeness of the reception venue with the hotels. They are 3 blocks from each other on opposite sides of a small roundabout. Those who feel they may require transportation between venues will need to coordinate it themselves.
What other hotels are nearby that we could stay at instead of Home2 Suites or ResidenceInn?
There are many lodging options in and around Ankeny! The reception will take place in The District in the south-central area of town. AmericInn, Quality Suites, Wyndham Garden, and many others are located just off of Interstate-35 very close to various stores and restaurants, and are a short 10-15 minute drive from either ceremony or reception venues.
What do I do if I have a dietary restriction?
There will be a space when RSVP-ing to give notice of your dietary restrictions. To RSVP for the wedding, please follow our RSVP tab!
