Brandon and I met through some friends at the UAF, where we were both attending as English majors with an aim toward teaching. Eventually he asked me out for coffee, which neither of us drink (also I couldn't stop chuckling about Eddie Izzard's do-you-want-a-cup-of-coffee skit, much to his confusion), so that quickly turned into lunch, which became dinner -- and a movie the night before because we like to do everything out of order. We quickly became inseparable and things just sort of happened from there; only one of us pursued teaching, and the other stumbled into an entirely different career after a sharp about-face from the teaching program, but we had really bonded over nerdy pursuits such as medieval literature, video games, tabletop games, geeky fandoms and pretentiously judging others, only one of which we've since grown out of.

Seven years later, we found ourselves invited by Brandon's amazing aunt and uncle out to their cabin on a beautiful remote lake accessible only by plane, and Brandon completely surprised me with a ring down by the dock. It was both utterly romantic and unforgettable, and also I think if I said no he could have left me there, never to be found. Lucky for me, there's no way I'd ever have said no!

We've been together happily for a long time, and we're both looking forward to the next chapter -- we hope you'll celebrate with us!
