In August 2011, Michael and Meagan decided to go out on a limb and participate in a mission trip to Anniston, Alabama. This trip was to help rebuild houses for those who lost everything because of the tornadoes that hit the area. Through working on homes, playing a game called "Just Dance", and dancing to "Hey Ya", the friendship started. While both were attending Kennesaw State University, they ran into each other multiple times in the parking deck. Finally, Michael asked Meagan out on a date in where she chose Chili's and a movie. After the movie, they conversed in the parking lot for a very long time. Shortly there after, Michael asked Meagan to be his girlfriend. The rest is history....

Michael asked Meagan to marry him while visiting his parents in Melbourne, Florida. After a nice dinner with family and friends, the group went to see sea turtles on the beach. Michael and Meagan were walking with the group when everyone fell back. Michael kept asking Meagan if she saw the sea turtle nests. When she kept saying no, he got anxious and dropped to one knee. Although it wasn't the original plan it all worked out and she said YES!
