Engaged!! For about 3 hours before getting married! In the Hmong culture, a dowry is an important piece of the wedding. It signifies honor and respect to the bride's family, as well as is a commitment to the family that their daughter will be taken care of. After the engagement, our families and church elders gathered at her house for a celebration meal, the dowry, and blessing by the church elders.
