Mike and Maddie’s story begins in good old Milly (Millis). In a small school with a grade of less than 90 kids, somehow Maddie and Mike’s schedules didn't link up until 6th grade Spanish.

But they didn't fall in love quite yet. Mike had a crush on another girl and Maddie was in a “middle school” relationship with another boy.

After that, they wouldn’t see much of each other unless it was a random run-in at the nurse's office.

Then, as fate would have it, Maddie and Mike sat next to each other in not one but three classes their senior year! Maddie and Mike started talking and finally became friends as they bonded over the silliness of Millis High School's latest drama and politics.

In the first few months of senior year, Mike decided it was time to start flirting with Maddie. He messaged her on Facebook. At the exact same moment, Maddie was telling her sister Emma via FaceTime about her newest crush, MIKE KOZAK.

This was the spark that set their love a flame 🔥

Mike is a peculiar fellow and for his first date with Maddie, he asked her to go to a cemetery to climb a tree. Ignoring all the potential red flags 🚩, Maddie accepted. Definitely the weirdest and most memorable first date.

After that, they spent more time together, hanging out with friends, visiting abandoned houses, and hunting ghosts. Mike worked up the courage to ask Maddie out on December 14th, 2012 at Oak Grove on top of the big rock in the parking lot.

The rest of Senior year was bliss… and then, it wasn’t. That’s right, their love was tested again as they both went off to college - Mike to Anna Maria and Maddie to UNH.

But their separation didn't last long. Halfway through freshman year, they decided to give long-distance a try before they both transferred to UMASS Amherst sophomore year. They stayed together through the ups and downs of "Zoomass," and after graduating, they moved back to Millis where they live with their two huskies, Nukka and Ragnar.

Mike proposed on October 6th, 2023 at Heritage Museum and Gardens on Cape Cod.
