Our Wedding

We met at the gym that Mike has worked in for decades. I had been training there for a couple years at the time but our paths hadn't really crossed. I have a picture I took of my son and myself and Mike is in the background training someone. It was only after he had trained my friend Korelle that I actually met him through her. Korelle and I worked out in the 5 a.m. hour at the time and they would always say hello and eventually I met him and we started to say hello as well.

In the Beginning...

The first time Mike and I actually spoke on our own was after a set of heavy split squats I was doing. He walked over to me in the free weight section and I don't remember the exact things he said but we were discussing injuries and I had mentioned my right calf was always going numb, and was explaining how something was often off in the right glute and just down the leg. At that point he simply reached over and felt my right calf to feel for tightness or whatever he feels for, and at that exact time that he was touching me my mind was like....."oh no! When was the last time I even shaved?????" This tall, sweet, handsome man was touching my unshaved leg!!!! What now? Panic and despair. My mind was spazzing out.... We talked for a little bit. Then it was time to finish the set or move on. I got up from the decline bench I was sitting on and we both looked down just out of habit I guess, and lo and behold... there was a sweat mark in the perfect shape of my butt. We both looked down and saw it. Then we smiled at each other politely and we both walked our separate ways. I proceeded to freak out and immediately text a friend.... Needless to say I was in no way looking to date anyone, I surely was not expecting to be touched at all by a man in this gym, and I was underprepared and completely mortified! I was simply working hard, sweating all over the equipment, and acting natural!

We spent the next several weeks talking and texting and getting to know each other. He trained me a few times. Our sessions were a mix of rapid fire conversations, questions, sharing our faith and hopes and dreams, our pasts... We just got to know each other. He was clearly trying to test my strength or my fitness with his leg workouts and I was just so excited to be there talking to this man who loves God as much as I do and had been walking with him a lot longer than I had. It was a needle in a haystack situation. We both love the Lord. We both are knee deep in fitness. He's a trainer. I'm a fitness enthusiast, a casual athlete, a lover of all things that have to do with movement, and this guy knows A LOT about all the things I love. We are so clear in age and raised in the same time of life.

Gym Dates and Interviews....

Alvin loves him! They are a couple of bros wearing hoodies on most days. They enjoy sharing vegetables at the dinner table and sitting on the porch together. Alvin loves when his whole family is home and has never loved anyone else and felt as comfortable with anyone aside from Michael outside of our tiny family. Alvin never even bit him or head bonked him once!

We both feel incredibly blessed to have each other in our lives. We share a faith and a love for God- the creator of the universe, and a commitment to follow Jesus. We got engaged on Thanksgiving, 2023, in front of my family. We look forward to being married in front of our families and with a few of our friends in the backyard of some wonderful people! Some of our greatest gifts will be our marriage and a life we build together and share until the end.

Should you choose to drive your personal vehicle to our wedding, there is street parking available, however, ride sharing is a great option in the area and allows you to enjoy your night freely! If you are using a rideshare company please pre-book your ride home, there can be limited options in the area late at night, and our reception will end at 11:00pm

What should we wear?

This is a real wedding, with a real wedding dress and a groom who will be decked out!!! Be as dressy as you want, the men should wear pants, we don't all needs suits and tuxes, but lets dress it up a smidge... yes?!
