Our Wedding

Our story began in May 2017 when Mike and I met “through mutual friends” 😉 (aka we met on Tinder). Mike was home from Auburn University for the weekend when we matched and the rest was history! He had the total package in my eyes: he was so kind, patient, and handsome! I knew something was different about Mike the first time I met him. He was so outgoing and never met a stranger!  Before leaving for his summer NASA internship in May 2018, we decided to make things “official”. That summer was filled with lots of Face-Time dates and too many tearful “I miss you’s” to count. I was thrilled Mike was living out his dream and working on the SLS in Florida, but I missed my dude! I was counting down the days until he returned home.  We continued our long-distance relationship throughout Mike’s last year at Auburn. This season was filled with so many fun weekend trips and Auburn football games! After graduating in December 2018, Mike finally moved back to Huntsville!   Through several job changes, moves and new friendships our love for each other grew. We both knew this was “The Real Deal”. In August 2022, we rented our first house together and moved in with our 2 cats.  On September 24, 2022 surrounded by our closest friends and family members, Mike asked me to be his wife at our housewarming party! I said yes and we’re so excited to begin this new chapter of our lives together!   Thank you for joining us on our special day!

Elizabeth (“Liz”) is Ashley’s older sister. She is married to Nathan Dewberry and they live in Birmingham, AL with 3 adorable cats. Liz is also a RN currently working in a fertility clinic outside of Birmingham. I’m so blessed to have my sister as my Matron of Honor! She is perfect for the role and there’s no one else I’d rather have by my side as Mike & I say, “I Do!”

Ashley’s future sister-in-law. Sidney is married to Steven Owens (Mike’s younger brother). Sidney has played an integral role as our “unofficial wedding planner” thanks to her current position as the Event Coordinator at the Huntsville Country Club. Her tips and tricks have made wedding planning a breeze. Not only has she been incredibly helpful with wedding planning, but she is also one of the sweetest people I know. She is always down for a wine night and we have so much fun together!! I can’t wait to call her my sister!

Sidney Owens

Melissa and I met in nursing school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2015. She is married to Scott Marine, another nursing school friend of Ashley’s. Melissa is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner working at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, AL. I am forever thankful UAB nursing brought me Melissa. Her laugh is so contagious and we have too much fun together!!!

Paige and I are both RNs at Crestwood Medical Center. We started working at Crestwood about the same time and quickly became close friends. She is an incredible nurse and her smile lights up every room she walks into! She is married to Vincent Hill and is a super mama to her 2 sweet boys, Mason and Jack. I’m so glad work brought us together and I’m so excited she’ll be by my side on my wedding day!

Paige Byrd Hill

Kaitlin & I met in 8th grade math class when her family moved to Huntsville. We soon realized we were neighbors and became close friends! We both attended the youth group and choir at our church and fell in love with the thought of becoming nurses one day. Although we attended nursing school at different colleges, we remained close throughout the years. Kaitlin is a RN at Huntsville Hospital working in the neonatal ICU. She and her husband Justin have the sweetest daughter Elaina who is our flower girl! They are expecting their second baby girl, Mercy Rose, in September 2023. Justin & Kaitlin live in Pulaski, TN and own a small cattle farm. 

Fun fact: I was a bridesmaid in Kaitlin & Justin’s wedding and took Mike as my “plus one”! He met my parents for the first time at their wedding!

Kaitlin Young

Juliana and I met through my sister, Liz, in 2009. Juliana has always been like an older sister to me and I’m so thankful our friendship has grown to what it is today. She is the funniest person I know and has such a sweet  heart, especially for rescue animals. Juliana and her husband Bryant live in Athens, AL with their 2 rescue pups. I’m so thankful she’ll be by my side on my wedding day!

Sam and Mike have been best friends since the 2nd grade. Sam is the closest thing to a brother that Mike has outside of his family. Growing up, they have did everything together including football and Boy Scouts. Sam attended West Point after high school and is currently a First Lieutenant in the Army. He has traveled quite a bit during has service but that hasn't affected his and Mike's friendship one bit.

Sam Howard

Nick is Mike's oldest brother. Mike always looked up to him and followed his example growing  up. They were members of the Sigma Pi fraternity at Auburn together. They were together just about every single weekend in college and now not much has changed since. Nick is the Rental Manager at Bobcat of Huntsville.

Nicholas Owens

Steven is Mike's younger brother. He married Sidney Fields on November 5th 2022 where Mike was his CO-Bestman. Steve and Sidney have a house only a few streets away in Five Points from Mike and Ashley.

Kurt and Mike met during summer football practice in 2010 at Huntsville High. They became fast friends and remained so through high school and college. Kurt and Mike interned together at Cimarron Composites over summers during college. Kurt graduated from the UAB School of Medicine in 2023 and is currently a first year cardiothoracic surgical resident at The University of Michigan. He will be taking a weekend off during his residency to be a groomsman for Mike.

Gentry and Mike met in highschool and became friends through their shared love of camping, kayaking, and shooting. Gentry has an incredible farm in Paint Rock, AL where he loves to have friends over to camp, shoot, and hunt.

Josiah moved to Huntsville High from Buckhorn in 2012 and met Mike after joining the football team. They quickly bonded over their mutual love of food and cooking. Josiah has regularly been a huge hand helping Mike cook for parties and shrimp boils.
