On a highly contested date that neither Michael or Emily can agree on, they matched on Bumble. Both after saying that this was it and they were done with dating apps. They matched and very quickly decided to meet. Supposed to be on a Saturday but as Emily was leaving for home that day they decided to meet when she got back from Spring Break. Instead as Emily was waiting to see if her soccer game got canceled from rain, Michael suggested that they meet that night if the game was canceled. The game ended up getting rained out and Emily was going to drive from Dothan to Enterprise to meet him but got caught in the rain. She texted him that she was all gross and maybe they should meet later but Michael told her that he has sweatpants and sweatshirts for her to wear. She decided to make the drive and even though it was the first time they ever met, they both consider that to be the date that they started dating.
Over almost a year and a half of long distance of anywhere from 45 minutes away to halfway across the world, they shared weekend trips, FaceTime dates, long drives just to see each other for the weekend, nightly phone calls, and many cat pictures traded back and forth (that's how Emily’s friends knew he was the one for her, he had a cat.) They fell further and further in love, and on a weekend that was supposed to be just a quick trip because they were both having awful weeks and missing each other terribly, Michael decided to propose. (Side note: It was after we got home from dinner and I was about to pick up the cat for a snuggle, so Hobbes was almost a very big distraction!) It was the easiest yes in the world and even though they were (are) still living 7 hours apart, they didn't care because all they care about is being with each other.
