Will and Michaela met in June of 2021 as many people do now, via a dating app! Michaela made the first move and asked Will to go hiking and get ice cream, and they spent the afternoon hiking in Great Falls, VA and sharing their love of the outdoors. From there they alternated having dates in their respective “homes”, Michaela in Washington DC and Will in Laurel, MD. Jokingly, Will asked Michaela “how long would you want to date before you are engaged” and Michaela answered “2 years” a bit arbitrarily. Well Will took that to heart and on their second anniversary Will proposed during a sunset cruise in Annapolis, MD, one of their favorite places to visit. Since then theyve traveled to both the mountains and the ocean; and decided to call Maine their home in 2023.

The Portland Jetport is the closest airport, located in Portland, ME. It is 15 minutes from the Old Port, easy to navigate and close to hotels.

Portland International Jetport

Boston is about 2 hours from Portland and another great travel option if Portland doesn't have flight options for you. You can hop on 95 and be in Portland, ME in no time!

Boston Logan International Airport

If you are looking to avoid renting a car and flying into Boston, the Amtrak Downeaster is a great option. The Downeaster does 5 round trips daily from Thompson's Point in Portland to North Station in Boston.

The Doubletree by Hilton is located conveniently right off of Interstate 95 and is only a 6 minute drive from the Portland Airport. The hotel is an easy 15 minute drive from both the ceremony venue and the reception venue!

Visit one of Maine's most famous headlights, the Portland Headlight! The Portland Headlight was built in 1891 and automated in 1989, but is still available for tours. Located in Fort Williams park in Cape Elizabeth, visiting the lighthouse, walking the cliff walk and flying a kite are an absolute must.
