In the beginning of 2020, we started talking to each other on social media, set up by mutual friends (Thank you Jeff and Ashley). Rhett lived in Louisiana and I lived in North Carolina at the time. Wasn't really sure how it would turn out with long distance but I did know that I really liked talking to him. We had already got to know each other very well and he always made me laugh. In February of 2020, Rhett planned to visit NC to see friends and we had planned to see each other and officially meet in person. Our first ever date was a double date at a restaurant in Winston Salem then Dave and Busters. We were both pretty nervous but the night turned out so well and I knew I wanted to keep seeing him. We hung out more that week but still was not too sure about any kind of relationship, until that is, his gun discharged in his back pocket and accidentally took a bullet and was sent to the ER (where I worked by the way). Don't worry, he was fine. Walked out of the emergency room but plans changed and he stayed longer to avoid long distance travel. I felt pretty bad for him so I would visit where he was staying and would watch movies and just hang out. By the time he went back home, we knew we wanted to see each other again. We kept it long distance and visited a couple times again. Then Covid hit which made it really hard for him to drive back across states. We were in a relationship by that time and he practically stayed in NC until it was safe to travel. I visited Louisiana a few times and enjoyed it so much, meeting friends and family. In April of 2021, we made the decision that I would move to Natchitoches, LA, where he grew up. I met great people and landed a job I really enjoy. All because I took a leap and knew Rhett was the man for me. I am a dog owner to wonderful labs I adore because of him and found a new appreciation for Marvel and Star wars 😂 . Fast forward to New Year's Day, this year, proposing to me while visiting my parents and family in NC. We are so excited for this chapter and marriage and are so thrilled for our loved ones to celebrate with us. ❤️
