The story begins in the classroom of our senior year English class. We had known of each other but hadn't cross paths before. We eventually got assigned into the same group for a project and started hitting it off from there. As homecoming rounded the corner we had started to become good friends and decided to go together. After Lukas wowed Michaela with some 'amazing' dancing skills and a long talk with some post-dance Mod pizza, a deeper bond had started connecting. Less than two weeks later we decided to start dating on Oct 11th 2015. At the time, we had already committed to separate colleges in Iowa, Iowa State and the University of Northern Iowa. During the 5 years each of us spent in Iowa we took turns driving the hour and a half between the campus' each month. After the 5 years had passed, we decided to move in together in an apartment in Wheeling, IL around September 2021. After receiving training orders in January 2022 Lukas started prepping to leave, but not before leaving with a bang. On February 6th, a few days before he was to leave for Oklahoma, he proposed in an intimate fashion late at night in our apartment. Lukas then embarked for Oklahoma where he eventually would also move to Colorado and now New Mexico. Since then Michaela has held the fort down at the apartment with our three fur babies (Opal, Zion, and Pippa). Although we are apart for most the year, we strive to maintain good communication through calls every day similar to what we did in college.

We decided to have our wedding on October 11, 2024 since it will be our 9 year anniversary for dating and that Michaela has always loved the fall season.
