Ryan and Kayla met in a true modern way: by swiping right on Tinder in 2016. After talking for a few weeks Ryan asked Kayla on a proper date. Kayla, being overly cautious, wanted to make sure Ryan wasn’t a psychopath trying to kidnap her, so she wanted their first date to be in a very public place. In true Penn State fashion they chose to get dinner in the HUB. Kayla quickly realized Ryan was exactly the same charming and authentic guy in person, that she was talking to over the phone.

Over the 7 years they have been together, Ryan and Kayla have enjoyed many activities together. Their favorites being: mini golf, taking walks outside, playing video games together and seeing scary movies.

Ryan decided to propose to Kayla in the lovely setting of the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Upon arrival at the gardens did Ryan realize he didn’t know much about plants. He did not realize that early March is not when flowers are blooming. They spent the majority of their visit staring at leafless twigs and flowerless bushes. However, towards the end of our visit he found a beautiful spot near the statue garden in front of a fountain to get down on one knee.
