Our Story

Drew and Michaela went to high school together but hung out in different crowds. They had known each other, but had never gotten the opportunity to become close. In 2017, Michaela and Drew ran into each other out at a bar in Oswego. As the night at the bar continued, Drew and Michaela found themselves engaged in deep conversation, reminiscing about their high school days and sharing stories about their respective experiences since then. They laughed about their different social circles and how they never really interacted much during school despite being acquainted.

Drew was passionate about his racing and shared his journey of how he started in local races and gradually moved up to more competitive events. Michaela, on the other hand, had pursued a career in teaching and had recently began teaching in Drew's old Elementary School.

As they talked, Drew mentioned an upcoming race that he was training for and invited Michaela to come watch. Intrigued by the idea, Michaela agreed, and they exchanged contact information to coordinate the details.

Over the next few weeks, their friendship grew stronger as they spent more time together. Michaela attended Drew's race and cheered him on from the sidelines. Drew appreciated her support and was pleasantly surprised by her genuine interest in his racing endeavors.

Their shared interests and genuine connection led them to spend more time together outside of the racing context. They went on dinner dates, watched movies, and of course watched a lot more racing.

As time went on, their friendship developed into something more. They found themselves drawn to each other's company and began to realize that they had a lot in common beyond their initial high school acquaintance. Their relationship blossomed into a romantic one, built on a foundation of mutual respect, shared interests, and the genuine bond they had formed over the years.

Looking back, Drew and Michaela often joked about how they had crossed paths in high school but only truly connected years later. Their story served as a reminder that sometimes, the right people come into our lives at unexpected times, and meaningful connections can form when the timing is just right.
