Our Wedding

Our Story

In 2019, Jordan and I met after working next door to each other for 6 months. He worked at the Anderson Lodge and I would serve him the occasional burger at AK-49. We didn't start talking until the both of us swiped right on tinder and I asked him to take me fishing. Little did I know he was a professional! We officially started dating shortly after in July. I had my kitten, Jinx, and he had his dog Gunner.   In August, we were skiffing our way home after work one night and realized that the family fishing boat had sunk at the dock! There is only one photo of the both of us on that day where we were skiffing back from towing the boat to trailer it at Davidson Landing.   In October, I moved in with Jordan while his parents were south for the winter. We were pretty freaked out but eager to see where it would take us. We learned a lot about each other during this time. From hiking the mile long driveway in the snow (with both Gunner and Jinx just in case we didn’t make it back that night) and reach the car to get to work every day or playing lots of video games.   In December, we took our first trip together and visited his family for Christmas and New Years. They took us to my first hot springs get away and showed me around familiar places in Colorado.

2020

In 2020, we got a new family dog, Thorne, and later, a new kitten, Oliver Mittens.  Jordan shot his first of many black bear in May. This was a huge family ordeal!  By august, we started renting our own place in Thorne bay and started to grow as a couple. We learned that Jordan was a pretty great cook and he really took on his culinary skill.   We carried on throughout the remainder of the year with new jobs and hunting or adventuring when we could.

2021

In 2021, we had a easy time navigating the rivers, Jordan was still desperately trying to teach me to fly fish. I took more interest in photographing him fishing instead. We adopted Haida early this year and I spent the majority of my time teaching her the ropes while Jordan was guiding daily. This was a very busy summer for us so we were apart a lot.   When we did manage time together it was to fish some more and actively house hunt to start the next chapter in our lives. We looked at a handful here and there in the subdivision, a few of which were float houses. Thank goodness we didn’t do that in the long run!   By October, we had bought our current house and rushed to cut our wood, knocked walls down and installed a fire place so we could live comfortable in the coming winter. Within a month of moving in we adopted our first puppy together, Boone, as our own waterfowl dog.   December came quick and we had our trials and tribulations with the crazy weather. The winter was beautiful and snowy which made for awesome tree hunting weather. We got our first ever living Christmas tree, a huge milestone as exciting as buying the house itself.

2022

2022 was a crazy busy and pretty hard year for us. We had multiple projects to do including adding into the pad, clearing trees and chopping the wood, building a porch and painting the house. Many more little things like garden projects as well.   On top of all of this we rarely got to see each other due to our differences in daily schedules. I had to work early in the morning and late at night whereas Jordan worked his normal guide schedule. One day I added our total time together at 45 minutes for the whole day. Part of which was during work hours.   Towards the end of the year we were finally able to spend some real time together, fishing and hunting of course. I shot my first deer! Then we took a long road trip to see family in California. Jordan has his routine pat down at the airport - he is always randomly selected. During this trip we also managed to squeak in some tattoo therapy.   When we returned I had also started a pet sitting business and immediately got great clientele.   This was a big learning year for us especially being the first year in our own house. I am grateful for our tenacity and drive to stick through it to achieve our goals.

2023

2023 was the year of getting goats. They consumed the grand majority of our year. We got Petey and Faith in early January and absolutely adored them. Goose was born late March right here at our home and under the wrong instructions we brought her into our home and raised her like a puppy. We took her fishing in one of Gunners sweaters and passed her around the group to stay warm while everyone got their turn to fish. It was great until we stopped bottle feeding her and gave her her own stall, she became the most human dependent animal we owned. Even more so than our clockwork feeding cat Jinx. By the end of September, we had rehomed the goats. We were pretty bummed out about this but agreed that it was the right thing to do for the animals and ourselves. We discussed the possibility of getting goats when we’re old and bored, however, they would be significantly smaller than the lamancha breed we had. In July, we took on a foster dog, Hank. He was adopted later on in October!  By the end of October, we traveled to California for Grandpas Halloween costume party birthday and got some of my absolute favorite photos together. We were dressed as Gomez and Morticia Adams.   In December of that year we went to spend Christmas with my mom and sister and her family in Sitka. Jordan and I both lived in Sitka at different times in our life so it was nice to go and see it again.

2024

In 2024, Jordan and I both started new jobs. Jordan went and spent some time guiding at other lodges around Alaska and I started at a local Lodge as a housekeeper. At the beginning of this year we also started keeping chickens and I tried my hand at hatching some chicks out.We started the year out strong with a new tradition of an annual camping trip with just us and the pups. Campfires, books and steelhead, it was amazing and much needed.Jordan left for what we assumed was going to be the whole summer and I was a MESS, we'd never spent more than a few days apart. It was hard but we both learned a lot about ourselves and our relationship during our time apart. I kept up with my chickens and garden at home, managed to get out of the house more than I was in. By the middle of the summer, Jordan came home for about two weeks and then was on his way out to another lodge for a different perspective and a new learning opportunity.When Jordan came home in the fall, ourselves and our relationship had grown exponentially and we had a new outlook on life together. We started really talking about marriage and our future together.In December, I had traveled to visit family for Christmas in Washington state. On my way home, Jordan met me in Ketchikan and we had a nice get away at the cape fox. I thought for sure this was when he was going to propose to me but he told me honestly it was supposed to, but it didn't go to plan with getting the ring. Little did I know, My mom had given him her ring by the end of our trip.

2025

2025 Is the year we got engaged! We started the year out with our annual camping trip and brought some friends along to experience part of Alaska. On April 14, my birthday, Jordan tricked me into a selfie video saying that we were wearing matching outfits and that he wanted to video and screenshot our photo afterwards. I said yes! and proceeded to absolutely bawl my eyes out. Jordan decided to stay home this year and work at his previous lodge which I am so thankful for. We now try to take every moment we have together to get out and do something fun and embrace spontaneity even when the day doesn't go as planned. We are always moving a million miles an hour. Our time together has taught us a lot but our time apart had taught us more. We take our lives one day at a time and go with the flow the best we can. We will do it together, forever.
